I know ppl with both of them, and they have no problesm with them, and they have them specially for live acts, so I trust they are reliable (usb is not as bad as many ppl say here)
You should have USB 2.0 though....its much faster
But as Trip said, firewire is faster...(but comes at a price...)
I've seen at least 2 or 3 bands doing their live with the emi 2/6

thanx fluoro...
though usb 2.0 isn t faster than firewire.
usb2 480mbps whereas firewire has 400 mbps...soon firewire 800 is out ( or is it already ? )

Sorry, I should mention that it works well, EXCEPT it is USB 1.1, so you can only use 1 stereo 24/96 pair. 4 pairs at 44.1/16, though |

i'am use maya 44usb
very nice, but early drivers was unstable
now all works fine (ver 2.3.6)
And about fireware, usb 2.0 and so on...
in syncronous mode usb 1.1 can tranfer data at 1.5Mbit/s in async mode up to 12Mbit/s
for 44Khz 16bit we need 88Kbyte/s or about 0.8Mbit/s...
Only one disadvantage of usb that there is
SERIAL bus
