Hello everybody. I'm into production for 4-5 years(not intense though) and I'm still struggling with achieving some great unique ambient/atmospheric tunes. I use FL Studio 8, Sound Forge, Audacity and a couple of VSTs. Just as an example:

This atmosphere sounds so natural...so soft so wonderful. Or Atriohm's tracks...filled with wonderfull unique forrest atmospheres.
Tips would be appreciated! Thanks

yeah, you want to make sure you turn up the sustain and release on your synthesizer.... play long notes.           https://www.djjeto.com

also thwe attack needs to go up a bit so each note comes in softly...
play with your oscillators, make them into different tonalities eg. one in C, the other in G.           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Some synths have noise waveform generators, which will add that breathy quality to a pad. Also mess with the modulation envelopes a lot til, and with layering have different modulation envelopes bringing sounds in and out.           www.musicproductionnatural.com || www.facebook.com/djamoeba | facebook page

use long notes with different oscillators detuned and add a highpass filter. Than play with different wave forms. Adding alot of distortion can also help to fatten em up.

Or you just buy Absynth 4 and you will have those atmos +900 more to choose from. You can set bpm and tweak how ever you want since its modular.

use pads and apply lots of delays and reverb, play with filter as well as flanger/phaser           Monitoring devices, know where you go

atmospheres - sample your pad and tweak the $^$&$ out of it in audio, in a wave editor. huge verbs, pitch shfting, layering the reverb-reverse-shifted thingie on top of your original in crossfade... phase the whole thing, reverse it, reverb it, shift it some more, eq, huge verb again... rock it bro

there is a vst plugin called "ProtoPlasm TSM"...some kind of experimental but it can do different pads and atmospheres in very different moods

3 osc with a whole lot of waveforms, 3 lfos, filter, envs, effects and it has a random function for the different sections if you like to get something unexpected...*hehe*           Radioactive.Cake - intelligent dark minimal psygressive
