Good luck! And great approach, I hope someone gets a lot of success, there are many people here who deserve it.
If you ever want to expand your sub-genres to other ones (like full-on or dark  ), I think you'll have even more success

Thank you, just progressive currently, but if this label goes well we may start a sub-label in the future for full on psy trance.
Also feel free to recommend talented progressive producers, we would love to help people get the success they deserve.

And how do you intend to do that?
do you promiss thouse artists decent promotion, gig's and mastering?
or, your just like the other labels who upload their tracks into webstores and take the money from the few sales?
not that i am saying your not honest, but the last thing i would do this days, would be releasing my music on a label...
Specialy when i can release my music on Beatport and others stores 15/20 days after i produce it, absolutely free, controling sales numbers and being owner or every right...
Labels are doomed, i wouldnt recomend it to no one, unless its very good label that is recognized for releasing good stuff.
No ofense, this is just what i think, good luck anyway! |

This may sound like a cheap promotion but Zombster Records is not of those labels @Ricciardo and you can check it out, owner does mastering+artwork+promotion for free all you have to do is make track

Thanks for your comments ricciardo, all our releases will be mastered professionally and high quality artwork will be designed for each release, these tracks will be made available on a huge range of online portals giving the artists maximum coverage, of course each artist will receive royalties from their track sales, once the label has established itself it will attract bookings for the artists, in my opinion it is a situation which supports both label and artist, we work together to release quality music and make this music available to as many people as possible.
A lot of the big artists got their break by being signed to labels like Iono, Blue tunes etc. without these labels they could still be undiscovered.
I am not sure what experience you have with labels, maybe you could share?

Sure, most of labels this days (and not only in psytrance)
Behave diferently than it used to be 10 years ago.
10 years ago, they would seek artists and only release the better material, because that would influence sales.
Today, as sales are very reduced, there are a number of labels that are releasing pretty much everything they can, because its the only way that the label owner to win something
Most of labels do not give sales cut to artists, thats a FACT, they clame the money they won its few and it doesnt pay the expenses on promotion, mastering etc etc (and its a valid point)
You give the example of Iono, but that label didnt started yesterday...
Iono is famouse today because they started releasing music when an avarage release would sell more than 2000 CD's... their best known artists become stablished and famous before we enter into today's context...
So, its very hard for a new label to emerge and become sucessfull, even if you have quality releases...
You need to have a very strong promoting policy and be very professional and well implemented PR work to give your artists enough gig's to make them reach the "stablished" status...
Other thing i dont understand is: if your looking for a certain trend of progressive trance, then why are you opening a topic like this?
its more likely that 99% of the people who will answer to this topic doesnt fit to your needs...
and honestly i also do not know exacly what progressive trance is this days... i make music that can go from 138 bpm to 144, and i dont produce progressive trance or full on, i just make psytrance that i like, end of story.
reducing a label to single "nich" of sound is not a good principle, after all the best artists are the one's who have singularity not the "stereotype" ones...

Ricciardo if only one talented progressive producer contacts us thanks to this article then we are happy.
We've been involved in music a long time and we have a lot of experience and we feel confident that we can build a successful digital label. The growth in the progressive scene is huge and there is much opportunity for labels and artists alike.
Actually the labels who specialise or develop a unique/niche sound are the ones who have been successful for example, blue tunes, spin twist etc.
But in my opinion progressive is not a niche at all it is a scene in its own right and it is probably the fastest growing, non-commercial electronic genre.
