very surprised to see that a shpongle track (!) is the final track to anthony pappa's upcoming mix 2cd on EQ, Balance 006. those two are about as far apart as i though a dj and producer could be.

it really seems like the genres walls are coming down these days. son kite/minilogue/kooler have got the attention of the progressive club dj's, and the psytance/psyambient side of things seems to have infiltrated many corners. when i listen to shiloh (swerve, trail mix), i hear Hallucinogen all over it.

I wonder if psytrance producers have made much of an impact of producers in others scenes, or if the similarity in sounds/ideas is more of a convergence of a lot of different subgenres of electronic music that seem to be fusing together again?

uhm, there are some psy producers that make house on the side. benji vaughan has a prog house sideproject, and spiral trax has an entire sublabel devoted to it.

I dont think you can call progressive trance for commercial.. I would even go so far and say it's way more undergorund than Full-on

Antonny Papa is not that far, some years ago he did a 2 mixed cd with the best of Platipus tunes, one of the labels that were responsible for the early Goa sound.
And also there was another mixed cd of him which featured Cass & Slide's remix to Astral's Liquid Sun tune. And i definately like the idea of widening the horizons.          Everyone in the world is doing something without me

i dont see a point here...

at the end of the day is trance music...

why you people have to put labels/genres to everything?

this is one of the biggest mistakes in human history and we keep doing it...

triton, that wasn't my point at all. in fact, my point was the opposite. it's not "trance" music. it's just "music". i am excited that finally many walls are crashing down between genres and people seem to be giving up their little tribal "subgenres" and listening to everything. i think this makes the electronic music scene more exciting now than ever. i'm just curious about the impact of psytrance producers on other producers.

Trance has an inferiority complex I figure... elsewise why are some people a little spooked when J00F, Oakie, Sasha/Digweed etc give some attention to the psychedelic side? The walls haven't come crashing down - as always, a few gems peak over the top and are seen by the world-at-large.
