Hi all (ok, maybe not ALL, maybe just the geeks )

http://www.antec.com/ec/productDetails.php?ProdID=08144
anyone had a chance to check it out ?

The case comes with this PSU built in
http://www.antec.com/ec/productDetails.php?ProdID=05550

What worries me is that the case has 2 92mm fans and the PSU a 80mm fan.

I was trying to build a 120mm fans system (even found a PSU with 140mm one

You think it'll make a noticeable difference in a case that was built in a purpose to be
quiet, opposing to building a 120mm system?

I would invest in a 120mm PSU, as I did in the past, which makes the whole Case+PSU deal irrelevant.

Get the antec solo case, corsair hx520 psu and noctua 120mm fan.
That's what me and the dude above me have. It's hard to hear the pc, even if you try hard to

I dont get it why u guys spend so much money for a case with huge fan when u can buy fanless cooler if u wanna reduce your computer noise..
BTW antec is great case but I wouldnt buy it for music production..           http://www.myspace.com/djacidkills

I build gaming rigs every day and I advice you to turn away from Antec cases or other relatively small cases with bad cooling that doesn't worth the price tag.
I'd advice on getting a Corsair HX520 PSU with a Gigabyte case. one of these two:

3d Mars:
http://www.cpu3d.com/content/view/2548/52/

or the older 3d Aurora 570S.
http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=810

you can see the regular Aurora in that link. the 570s is even bigger.

I use the 3d Mars, you don't need screws for anything. I think now you also get a sliding mobo tray in it, it's quite like nothing I ever had, it's big and comes with fans and all.

K guys, took your advice regarding the PSU and a seperate case, here's the current planned specs.

DAC - I don't want a monster tower in my room, it is a bedroom studio after all

Case: http://www.nzxt.com/products/hu001/
notice the 12cm fans in the front and back, also the inside looks quite good, tidy and clean + some sort of noise dumping built-in.

Mobo: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=2745&ProductName=GA-P35-DS4
It was such a mess to find a nice P35 mobo with OC abilities and Ti firewire chip (goddam MOTU )

PSU - http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Power/TR2power/w0134/w0134.asp
That's the one with 14cm fan

CPU Cooling: http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Cooler/Retail/Cl-P0369/speci.html (or similar)

CPU- Intel Q6660

Grfx - Probably some cheap passive cooling gigabyte ATI card

Now regarding RAM, I'm still thinking whether I should get 2x1GB or 2x2GB (On XP at the moment but Vista is knocking on the door already + I wanna install hackintosh at some point), anyway, it'll be DDR2 running @1066MHz so it'll work harmonically with the CPU (the mobo supports 1066FSB so should be interesting)

Any offeres, suggestions, critics (or even cheers ) would be appriciated.

Peace and love and among the psytrance geeks!

a fanless cooler for what?
cpu?
case?
the only thing which can handle a fanless cooler is your gpu. a cpu without a cooler (especially if it's a quad).

why is that?

music production is different. we don't have really hot gpus - so less heat. no need for crazy airflow.

The thing is making the pc as silent as possible. So yes, making it silent will mean it won't be too cold. But I run a really silent setup with an overclocked cpu and I have no heating/stability problems.

I use the Antec Solo case. I replaced the Antec fan with a Noctua 120mm fan, running it at the lowest rpm.
CPU cooler is Thermalright Ultra extreme 120, again with a noctua fan on it.
GPU has passive cooling so it doesn't matter. PSU is Corsair HX520.

The pc is VERY quiet. When I step into the room and the monitors are in sleep mode I need to look on the case whether the LEDs are on to know if the pc is on, because you just don't hear it.
And yes, it's overclocked. E2160 from 1800mhz to 3240mhz. And no heating/stability problems.
So from my own experience, this setup is very recommended.

Don't bother. My MOTU UltraLite works perfect with TI, Ricoh, VIA chipsets. btw - Try the abit ip35 pro xe board - this is what I have. a bit expensive though.

Using an antec P182 and it is the quietest case I've ever used. The PSU fan & case mounted fans tend to be the most noticeable source of noise, in my opinion, so I focus on them first.

Just bought a fanless PSU. Gonna give it a try and see how it works.           Keep The Faith,

When I called the shop I wanted to get most of the stuff from, they told me they haven't got the NXZT case I'm after and offered the Aurora (which is a v.good case though ugly as hell )

Dharma Lab, please tell us (me) about the fanless PSU (is it a Zalman one?) when you tried it a bit, it looks interesting

Qwerty, have you got a dB meter at your disposal ?

Mike, you know how it goes... non-Ti chipsets work perfect for everyone, and just when I'll buy mine it won't
better safe then sorry I reckon (not to mention I'm enjoying going through endless catalogs and technical sheets )

Fanless cooler for cpu.. It took weeks till I get it but its here and works great.. Actually uncomparable.. The only noise comes from the hard disk.. I got
http://www.thermaltake.com/product/cooler/retail/cl-p0071/cl-p0071.asp
Now only psu is making noise, gota fix that and voila..           http://www.myspace.com/djacidkills
