forgive my ignorance, but i come from a housy background... I was just wondering about the following:

Broadly speaking, non-psytrance/house/progressive albums are mainly albums mixed by DJs/Producers, using tracks from various composers (some exeptions exist though, remixes, own works etc.).... while psy albums are mainly "DJ friendly" composed of tracks by producers or not-mixed compilation....

so why is it so hard to find quality mixed psy albums?

There were some very good mixed psy albums. Like these ones:

because many people wish to use the tracks for their dj sets - amateur or proff. having it mixed is not a good option then.
one recommendation i can make for a good mixed compilation is "tristan's twisted sessions vol1"
im still wishing that that allaby track was not mixed... i would do alot to get it unmixed.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Marquis my explanation is that there is much less emphasis on mixing in psy trance, generally DJ's blend the tunes together more than long mixes. There is almost no layering, each psy trance track is a force unto itself, a self contained journey, and for people listening to a psy trance CD, its more about listening to the artists journey within the tune rather than the journey a house dj takes one on by mixing different tunes together.

And when you do get a mix CD, sometimes it will come with a another CD with just the tracks (ie Guy Salama / b trance I recently got)

There are examples of ok mixed psy-cd's as allready mentioned. I don't quite see the point though, as I often find that great sections of tracks are lost. At parties this is ok(Though I think alot of DJ's have a tendencie to play to little of each track), but for home listening I prefer the entire experience of a track.

thx guys

(and zatitude, got the point

it's just that a mixed album offers a journey and also shows DJing skills in building up the journey... I am enjoying quality psytrance very much thx to Isra's members reviews and recommendations, as well as my dear Run Lola and Stamina But sometimes, when an album is played, i just wish the flow could go on for an hour and 1/2!!!           www.LebaneseRavers.com | Raving beyond borders
