the thing i don't get is why the labels aren't doing anything about this. make complaints to the police about the trading/sharing places like soulseek and some dc++ hubs. doesn't cost you a penny and the police has to act..

But in most cases the police don’t have either the recourses or the know-how.

Just give them some ips, like the admin's one. They contact the isp and find out who owns the particular ip. They've broken copyright laws. Label sues them and gets money and better the hub is closed for good.

If the big major (RIAA) labels can't get this done, it is very unrealistic to expect psytrance labels to achieve this.

A few points:
1. For the ones who were contacted by this culprit - do you usualy give away released music as well? seems to me that most of you are making an offence but only crying about it when unreleased music is involved... or when you are personally damaged.
If you are concerned about this, dont give away any music - that should solve the deal, no?
2. How do most of you get the unreleased music anyway? from the labels/artists? seems to me that there are a lot of 'connected' people here, and if so many of you are receiving material from artists/labels, who is left to actualy buy the releases?
3. About DC++ and other file sharing programs - there is nothing to be done right now, since the hubs don't host the files.
regards,
A
