OK, now that it's working 'n all... next problem: How do you 'record what you hear' with this soundcard? Seems to be no options available. So connect headphone to input? Doesn't seem a good idea though.. |

Umm.. what exactly are you recording? If you are recording from an outside source, then you should be able to easily record through your inputs without an issue.

Sounds like he's trying to record a sample from a movie he's playing, and lamenting the lack of a "stereo mix" as a recording source.
This bummed me out when I got my first ASIO interface... that seems to be the one thing many external sound devices can't do. I'd always taken it for granted with my crappy old PCI soundcards.

Damn! The card can't handle that? you know I'm even considering putting my old sb audigy back instead of this firewire card after all these trouble (still disconnects rarely).
So, can I put a cable from headphones to line in and record what is played? Or will this end up in an ever growing soundwave?

You could try the loopback method, the feedback or lack thereof would probably depend on several factors.
What are you trying to do exactly? There's a number of threads about extracting audio from DVDs and AVIs etc.
You could also just throw your Audigy back in... it shouldn't neccesarly interefere with anything if you make sure you select your audio device prefs properly.
