I decided to open this topic EXCLUSIVELY for Anime after i checked out the anime/cartoon topic which in my humble opinion is a mess and doesnt provide any info on the concept and philosophy of Anime.Like i stated on the other topic for me it is funny to see Lion King and Shrek on the same topic with Ghost In The Shell and Akira because these are tottally different things.

So this is the place for everyone to speak freely for Anime and everything around it,from its history and magical creators to movies suggestions and analysis.

PLEASE try to be constructive and informative with your posts providing as many details as possible, ofcourse noone likes to read endless posts (like mine lol) but also noone pays attention to endless lists with the titles of movies with no further information next to them.

If you got a favorite anime feel free to post it here along with an internet link if possible and 4-5 lines giving us an idea about the plot.

Suggest a film like you would do to a close friend of yours trying to persuade him to watch it           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

I noticed on the other topic that many people suggested a lot of anime movies, mostly the classic ones, but noone mentioned a film that is considered an anime classic with a cult following all around the world for two decades already.

The title i am talking about is WINDARIA by Kunihiko Yuyama that hasnt been released on DVD but you can easily find it on Youtube both on its American and Japanese versions and i mention both of the versions because the plot changes in both of them with the Japanese version being a saddest one and better one if you ask me.

Here is the Imdb link for Windaria http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092218/

Windaria is a tale of war and peace, love and hate, loyalty and betrayal, salvation and damnation, life and death.

Two great kingdoms are at war and a small valley is located in the middle of this battlefield,a valley where our main hero comes from trying to make a decent living with his wife as farmers and trying to stay away from this war madness.

One day he receives a visit from one of the kingdoms agents and he is asked to help them in reward of a big sum of money and not only.

Our hero gets blind from all these promises and accepts to help one of the kingdoms by sabotaging the other.

His actions will prove fatal for a lot of people and when he realises what he has done it is very late to correct his mistakes.

Windaria is one of my very favorite Anime's with a great script that ends in a tragedy,a personal tragedy for the main character and a total tragedy for everyone else involved in this crazy war like the princess and prince of the opposite kingdoms who are in love while their parents want to kill each other and the people of the valley who dont want to take part in this crazy war but must face the consequences of what is going on around them.

Many moral issues raised in this masterpiece and many innovative concepts introduced like the spaceship that gathers the souls for example which is a memorable story within the main story.

20 years old already but still a true gem.

Not available in DVD but widely available on Youtube and in good quality,go for the japanese version with subtitles if you can find it otherwise check out the more easy to find American version.

Hoping for some other reviews soon           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

FLCL may be the greatest bit of Anime ever. Why do I say this?

It's just 6 episodes of 24 minutes - a running length of a long movie. Yet it's a series, in a very clear way. Each episode has a life of it's own, and shows a slightly different perspective on the world created. It's a small and cramped town. Very few characters. By keeping it that simple, it actually gives a surprisingly rounded and rich environment, and has enough details to piece together an attachment to the characters (a trait people find appealing in Lost).

How is this accomplished in a series format in so little time?

Well, this is what makes FLCL truely stand out.

The pace is set high in the first episode. And what I mean by high-paced, try taking the quirkiest/fastest bits from Snatch, Lock Stock and other movies, and you aren't even getting close. This will have your mind reeling from the onslaught of weirdness, humor and seemingly random events and consequences not giving you a second to get a grip on things, until you are just forced to just go with the roller-coaster ride of insanity, humor, deep characters and even some action sequences.

But at it's core - FLCL is a simple, timeless story. Kind of. You can say it's a comedy, you can say it's an action series, you can even say that it's just about a kid learning to face the world. In the end, it's one of the most thoroughly enjoyably things to view, ever.          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222
