Sums up my thoughts. I think his work is excellent, and he really is an incredibly nice person when I've e-spoken with him.
As for the artist/label conflict going on. No comment. CD seems pretty harsh, but it's their business and we don't know what transpired between them.

The Androcell and Distant System albums have moved me in a way that very few pieces of music have. They have been among the handful of albums that have defined the last decade for me, musically speaking. It sucks pretty hard to think that I may never hear another new one.
I don't pretend to fully understand Tyler's reasons for quitting music so I'm not going to comment on that. I do hope that other artists can learn something from this situation. One thing that I hope they learn is not to expect any sort of financial compensation for what they do. If you don't expect it, you can't be disappointed when you don't get it. It's a tragedy that talented artists can't get sufficiently compensated to make a living, but these are the fucked-up times we live in.
Also, I'm feeling pretty disinclined to support Celestial Dragon. I have no idea what went on between Tyler and the label, but wishing him harm in a public forum is pretty childish. |

my conclusions up to this point: This Androcell / Distant System / Qasga / androcell-distant system / Distant system- aNDROcEll / etc etc guy is probably 3-4 different people, cousins, Tylers or whatever, trying to confuse the poor isratrance fellows with all sorts of personal and sentimental stories , and the celestial dragon is prob a 19 year old pissed off for not making much money guy

Wow, what a saga. One of our fans alerted us to this thread and tyler's last post here (if it is indeed his).
Well Tyler, if it is you, we're sorry things are not working well for you, however, we fail to understand why you blame us for "fucking you up". We have never released any of your music, and hence didn't have the chance to "fuck you up". Furthermore, we pride ourselves in not "fucking up" our artists. On the contrary, we do our best to pay them as well as we can and always on time and offer them any support we can beyond this. So this is not a very nice thing of you to say here. We hope you'll fix that.
We wish you all the best for the future, and hope things work well for you.

tyler, you seem disappointed that you're not making money from music but who is? not so many people really. however, just because you're not making money from it now, it doesn;t mean that you have, as you say, failed. the economics have shifted, with the profits from the music industry now swelling the pockets of broadband providers as people download more and more free music and films....and pay the telecommunications companies for the privilege.
laying aside the money aspect, your development as an artist is an achievement in and of itself....even though this isn't always percieved as an achievement in the modern world; where financial gain is the benchmark of success, particularly in america.
maybe 10-15 years ago you would have thrived financially in this style of music alongside the others like banco de gaia who were there at the right time and right place. but the fact is that the a lot of underground artists and labels now have to support themselves financially through other means; with their music earning being a bit of spending cash on top.
basically you aint in the boat alone mate. i think you know all this though..... |

The way I read that post of his that mentioned you he was floating Celestial Dragon's name as the shit end of the spectrum, and Aleph Zero at the other end.
As in, no matter if you pick the shitty record label or the awesome label - be careful.

What did Tyler do? Must be pretty terrible to be that harsh if he is suffering the circumstances this thread alludes to.

It's what he didn't do. His albums have never sold worth a damn. He was a terrible investment. Hopefully he is through with music and doesn't waste anybody's time or money any more.
|
|
Or maybe you are just one of those labels who are very bad at promoting artists and sell their music. At the end of the day it's you who have to sell his music. Its not his job!
This scene is packed with unprofessional bedroom labels of the worse kind
I wonder how much you invested into promotion and how well you actually know the promotion tools
Now this is of course pure speculation even though I doubt you are all that But it seem to me you are unprofessional and arrogant proved by the way you responded in this debate. Not a label I would recommend to any artist. Would be a waste of time

first of all these late androcell connected topics are very odd and they remind me somehow of another very unhealthy discussion that went on on the main page some time ago. how many participants do we actually have here? are they really the persons they claim to be? i have absolutely no idea what kind of a person androcell is outside of isratrance. i don't even know who it has been who has posted all the weird comments and spams lately. a disillusioned and deranged artist or a evil and flipping ex-friend?
i was in contact with pete (pete pan) who compiled "vampire sunrise" for celestial dragon and he was a very decent chap. i don't know who is doing the commenting on behalf of celestial dragon here but it's really saddening to read such comments being made about an artist who has released 3 full length albums on the label (no matter if he's a nutter or not). i'd like to know who it is writing such commnents on behalf of a label and doing irreversible damage to the credibility of a label that has atleast in my book been a high profile one in terms of releases and artist treatment.

i disagree.
i read it as the spokesperson of aleph does.
there is no spectrum. he tells artists to be careful whether it's aleph or celestial. they are all on the same line.

hmmmm, i read it as it being the same person using the "androcell / Distant System" and "Celestial Dragon Records" accounts to strengthen the debate in an attempt to push a few extra sales.
i find it hard to imagine that a label would come out with stuff like that about an artist they have returned to 3 albums over.
who knows?
pity it's gone this way as the underlying thing is that the music is excellent.
think this is a debate that should be taken off-line by the people (person?) involved though.

Man I love Quasga to death and wish I could be on millionth as talented as him. I've hung out with him at festivals and really enjoyed the time and talks. Don't be mad at me then Q for this post..I'll always look up to you. Celestial Dragon has gone under, they can no longer afford to keep the music pout as all the past albums were leaked within one day of release. I have no idea what went down with Quasga and celestial, and maybe I don't want to know. However Celestial dragon is not posting on this site. The two people left in charge for promotion were Quasga and me for the label. Rob does not post and is seriously in a state of shock and isolation at the fall of his dream. Rob helped this kentucky kid that is in the middle of nowhere start up his label lobogistic labs. Then after hearing the mixes I made back in 98 which I sent snail mail from Paducah kentucky usa (google it...our town is 10,000 population) rob sponsored me for saiko sounds and sent me free discs. Next when celestial started he let me compile albums and then release my own album under papa legba on celestial my album being nowhere near the perfection(and this is not sarcasm ) of androcell or distant system. I owe all I have ever accomplished in electronic music to rob, I would easily give up all I have from music ventures just to see rob be able to keep his dream and be able to keep celestial afloat. I can assure you all that celestial dragon did not post those posts, I do not know who did and don't want to know, but I had to dip my head into isratrance one last time once I saw celestial being slandered. I'm sorry Quasga and I hope if we meet again we can chill and talk about football or baseball seriously tho..Androcell and distant system were one of the most unique and just plain awesome projects out there, which is why I always had one of tylers tracks on my comps. And he was also the first person I contacted when I started my label. Well I've said enough and am hanging up my chill hat also and am also back to my minimum wage part time job..desperately trying to find full time...I just couldn't let the label that helped make the happiest times in my life come true and truly believed in me have its last breath spit on. And by the way for all you that ripped celestial albums may you hear dubstep anthems for eternity!!!

Sorry to hear about the hard times - don't lose hope there Pete !
I guess this shows the pitfalls of having third parties adopt your online identity. |

Watch out how you quote people...I did not say definitively that was what happened as I have no knowledge....merely floating how I interpreted the post...
Wow. So many people posting on behalf of artists and labels but its not actually them? Confusing as fuck.
