hehe me too mate. Never thought I'd see the day where I would like a free (well I did have to pay for Logic) soft synth, as much as the daddy of analog bass synths.

1st sample is the Minimoog Bass for sure and it sounds better then the 2nd sample.
In situations where you eq the sound to shave off those harsh analog frequencies isnt doing justice in my oppinion. Now days nobody will point out an analog bass from a digital one simply because of the processing done on it with digital effects. Better to leave it unprocessed as much as u can to feel the power of whatever that it is from analog bass to lead fx etc.. Digital just sounds much cleaner and fits in tracks nicely but analog is so hard to fit in tracks but requires subtle treatment.
Good luck

Haven't read the whole thread, but i like the second one more.
It doesn't matters what instrument you have used to make it, digital or analogue or hardware or software or mac or pc, what only matters is how you tweak your instrument to make it sound good. Similar presets with similar settings will sound different on different instruments with similar technical characteristics, but it doesn't says much regarding the quality of those instruments.
I believe the second one sounds better to me because of the envelope settings used in this preset, it's more tight and sits nice with the kick. After all, that's what it's all about.

the analog magic is gone once we listen to a file tho..
A total analog source (instrument or synth)
B total analog recordings (recording the electric pulse - not reproduce it by preferences and programing)
C total analog listening (vinyl or cassette)

| Almost all music since at least the 80s has been recorded on DAT tape and/or put through a digital delay before being cut into the vinyl master, so you'd be hard-pressed to find a vinyl release that is truly "all analog" |

PS: layer them on top of each other, or put one in the left channel and one in the right |
