what i was saying is that it's not analog or digital that matters but what you do with it... got it? |

ahh u defenetly didnt got the point of this test
so ill show ya in jpegs......
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f138/MeoGeo/vst.jpg
thats the vst compression
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f138/MeoGeo/dbx.jpg
thats the dbx compression
now u know what to look for in this wave
tzab output gain have nothing to do with this test
actual proccess of compression is what matters
look on vst one in wave now
its not even abit compressed
its just act like envelop that goes to "sustain" after the "decay" attack time of the plugin
now emotion i know what u mean and ill tell u again....
its not discution about musical abilities of artist so plz stop repeating that...

5Meo-Geo, you just proved that you are totaly and utterly clueless.
Let me explain: Those waveforms from the DBX are distorted!!! If you send a sine wave in, you should get a sine wave out and not the clipped waves you see in your graphs. The start of all the "DBX waves" are also clipped at 0 dB FS.
I am guessing that the clipping happens before or at the input of the DBX as it follows the compressor's gain envelope and doesn't just clip at the beginning.
That volume envelope you are talking about is exactly what a compressor should do! It shouldn't distort the actual waveform! At least not much.
What proves you are totaly clueless: You don't understand what a compressor does. you don't understand proper gain structures. You didn't even give release times which are relevant to the test you perform.
Here is a sine wave going through a DBX 266XL without clipping: http://home.casema.nl/ajohnston/DBX-Sine-Audio-2.wav
(Yes I have a few of those in my studio ...)
Now shut up because you are making a bigger fool of yourself with every single post you make.

compressor should do that only above the treshold point not from 0 to -inf range man!!!!!!!!
its not supose to lower the volume of the wave that is under the treshold point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who says any compressors are doing that?

Ever heard of soft-knee? Anyway, anything you test is irrelevant because you don't have a clue what you are doing. Who knows which settings you have completely buggered up in your tests ...
