Don't know much about computers and motherboards, but I've heard that the Gigabyte is also another good board, don't know if they are for pentium's but you can have a look at that

Contact your soundcard dealer! I bought a motherboard with VIA chipset for an Athlon processor and my MOTU soundcard could not be recognised. MOTU told me that there were many compatibility problems with VIA chipsets and I really should go for an Intel processor and Intel chipset.
Quite a few professional soundcard manufacturers do not recommend boards with VIA chipsets or have developed special drivers for them.
Maybe this problem has been fixed by now, but I would check the manufacturer's site or send them a mail and ask. You could end up with a board that simply doesn't allow you to install your soundcard!
My Asus board with Intel processor and Intel chipset works fine. I used to have Gigabyte boards. On the AudioCube I have an American Megatrends board. |

Asus is the best manufacturer of motherboards, and definetely get a board with the intel chipset and do install the latest drivers for it first thing before you install any other drivers on your machine.
Also consider getting a board with a raid controller you can write audio much faster to it.
Forget via or sis chipsets they are cheap solutions if you want to be serious

for a review of 10 motherboards with the new intel 875 chipset |
