What is the best processor for making music.
AMD64bit 3000 or Pentium 3Ghz.
If i use only vst plug-ins.

I plan to buy AMD64 if that helps...
@nolightatend--> Not dual layer but dual core. And it costs 3 times the cpu he asked.

No. AMD 64bit had some problems about music creation that i hear. I buy Intel pentium 3ghz and im very happy.

Well,if you want some,buy server procesor,and 2 GB of memory,and buy a whole new holywood studio!When 64 bit software become usual,than buy 64 bit cpu.  |

thats not correct
fidel, you should specify the specs of the CPUs. A P4E 3.0Ghz is equal to a A64 3500/3700+ (socket 939) with HyperTransport.

Heey i Need some Advice , Im planning in Upgrade my Pc First I have the idea to go Mac buy a Power Book with 1Gb and buy logic audio but that will be like 5 months of saving money , on the other hand the amd64Bit sounds quite good and start a new pc with this system could be good choice too , so what u think about this , Mac worth the 5 months wait or i just go an build a new pc system based on AMD64bit???.................

no point...until Windows decides to release an operating system which is 64bit....windows is still 32bit, so even if the programs are 64 bit, whats the point.
aldo by the time windows release 64bit operating system (will they??) and most programs will be 64bit, your cirrent processor you have now will be a relic...there will be better stuff to use and buy....so ya...
i think at the moment Intel is the better choice for music production , since it uses floating point calculations, whereas far as i know the AMD doesnt have or haas shitty floating point....
just for an example i have 3 computers, a 2.8Ghz AMD, a 1.7Ghz intel and a 3Ghz intel which i use now....
but the 2.8Ghz AMD and the 1.7 Ghz INtel had almost identical performance with the same RAM
so i personally would rather go for Intel when it comes to music creation and production...
correct me if i am wrong anyone
