hello people!

i have a question i allredy know that centrino platform is good for laptop music making/live

but i see that turion's from amd are highly specd and powerfull and cheaper aswell

does anybody knows what is the best choice between those 2 for music?
are the turion stable and powerfull us centrino?
i think i allredy know that mobillity and battery life of centrinos is better but i dont care about that so much (usualy operating pluged in)

any infos and suggestion would be nice from all you techy freaks around here!!

turion, no doubt. The centrino is a slimmed down pentium. The turion is a full power processor, with no concessions. The only intel chip that can compare is the pentium M 770.

I think you're getting confused with the Celeron processors, which are less-powerful versions of the Pentium processors. Centrino computeres use Pentium-M processors, and in fact the 770 is the latest Pentium-M chip used in Centrino laptops.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

I too also have this dilema: choosing the CPU for my laptop, for music production of course. Thinking about getting one today, but don't really feel like getting compaq, hp or acer(with Turion CPU). I lean towards sony and toshiba but these have Centrino processors.

so which i should go with: Centrino or Turion???

Please help to choose.          www.venomous2.com

dont take any of these!!

wait a few months dualcore laptops with this processors will come out soon and it would be a much better purchase !!!

also when dual laptops are out single core cpus will be much cheaper!!

Standard advice is always to buy the most powerful machine you can afford at the time. There is always new technology coming soon, and you could wait forever to buy the 'best' computer.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

dunno dude but, every minute i don't spend in the studio i loose precious musical ideas, so i guess i can't wait few months. I want to have something that will get the job done, and won't freeze up on me everytime i launch few instances of VST synths.
so in this aspect any recomendations wheather i should choose centrino or turion will be appreciated.

oh for the info, i will be running acid 5.0 pro and cubase sx3 on this mistery laptop + albino, discovery, delta III, scorpion, synth 1 and some vst and dx plugins.
