What processor is THE ONE to go for if I want something good for musicproduction? AMD Athlon64, Pentium4 or AMD Athlon XP? |

I would personally prefer a Mac G4 or 5..
..but with those choices, I'd go with the Pentium4.

well if u can afford macintosh .. go for AMD64 ehhe the new cpus from them are quiet good .. but a nice motherboard helps a lot too .. and 1 gigabyte at least of ram and a 120gigas or plus there  8mbcahcge and u stay with a pretty nice killer machine
but i would for the g5 .. i use one .. and .. pff no words for it eheheh

Yeah mac sucks 
Go for the AMD Athlon64 fx if u can afford it.
And as Darkpsy said not only the cpu is important, good mobo and ram, fast hd all very important for a fast system. Signature |

AMD is Fuck ! and dont suportted good in music cration !

I doubt i understood anything about what you wrote there. If you have some points that you want to share with us, please use milder language. Writing something like "AMD is Fuck !" doesn't really help anyone.

LOL AMD .. is 10X bether for music than INTEL  ahahha .. and i have tested that at my home .. and i used amd for more one year .. ohh and my cpu from INTEL was more fast than the AMD eheheh
and YEB mac sucks ? .. i don't really think so the moest stable system hardware software u can get
but ok .. opinions are opinions

the amd athlon 64 fx seems to be a great little thing in every aspect but the price. I have made my final choise - it'll be amd atholn 64! That one was my favourite one even before I posted this thread, but i wanted to get it confirmed by you pro people first So thank you all for sharing your opinion! |

clever choise it might not be exactly as the 64FX
but dont forget that there are few more things you need to check like a good and disant amount of ram , motherboard-processor syncronization and a soundcard
and about intel-amd arguement i think for the last couple of years AMD has provided much more quality products than intel

eliran17, I've been thinking quite intensively about all that too
For RAM: Kingston 1Gb (2*512Mb), DDR400, CL2 (hyperx)
For Mobo: Asus A8V Deluxe, socket 939 and with dual channel support and a lot of other nice features. This mobo got very good reviews on the internet
For Soundcard: E-Mu 1212m (people on isratrance recommeded me that one in a previous post since my soundcardbudget is up to about 300$)
Ahhhh, finally I'm getting somewhere. I feel almost proud of what I've come to pick at last You people have made this job much easier for me! 10x! |
