this is my boyfreind post review to me .not me
my english is seemingly bad.....aki

I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of this new compilation from the guys behind deviant species themselves and i must say this has to be for me, the standout album of 2002.

Things start off with the obscurely titled "Enter Domestos" by newcomers "Floor Assignment". I really like this tune, it's full of layers and nice sounds and changes a lot, could be played morning or evening. An epic slice of psychedlia that keeps your attention right until the end.

Next up are Deviant Species with a remix of "Balojax" from last years album capably handled by the South African renegade producer Rinkadink, this rocks the floor. I have to say i like this one very much indeed,. Who is that strange woman mumblimg in the background? What does she say, where is she from & what's her phone number?

Thirdly comes the first of two tunes from Shift, also South African i believe, 'Oxygen' is a really atmosheric number with a beautiful pad than comes creeping in half way through and some off-the-wall vocal samples and the other tune 'Freakem' is a dancefloor stormer that will help boost this guy's reputation no end.

Thod's "Thwack", a strong eery number driven by a demonic kik drum that keeps you waiting and waiting for the bassline until it finally comes in with shifting techno loops and some seriously banging drums. The track builds and builds and is sure to rock the techno and trance dancefloors, not quite sure who these guys are but i cant wait to hear more.

Lunaris is one fantastic tune . brillianty spacey as the title suggests. a major exploration of trippiness and some seriously hardcore sonic mangling, there is serious approach to detail here, a short sharp shock to the system that leaves you begging for more. Slacker producers beware, there's a new kid in town and his name is Scorb.

Ths elusive NRS are back again with "bizarre garden incident" a heavy psy onslaught that starts off with a broken down drum thing and breaks into a fat kik and bass, there are some peculiar noises with a scary vocal breakdown that sounds like the voice of hell, more to come i think from Lek and the boys.

Deviant Species appear again with a haunting dark slice of psychedelic technotrance. Insiduous mellodies ebb in & out over a beat that relentlessly builds up, the true ambassadors of nightime

Jax aka centrifugal man(i think, could be wrong) and roger delaphonsoe slam everything down on the table here, bang, bang, bang goes the "Goon" as he throttles your senses with surgical precision lifting you up with his mechanical hats and rounded bassline.

All in all i have to give this album 10 out of 10.

....Good tracks here..... anyone slightly disappointed with the last ambivalent release will be well pleased with this offering... 'moveable', 'groove'able.... "Significant Elf Proclivaties" introduces some 'new names' as well as some new colaborations..!
... with most of the 'studio gimping' done by Vana(a.k.a Rinkadink, Flamin Hoons) the finished sound of the whole album is a fresh take on the 'ambivalent perspective'..!!!
.......well done guys.....good luck with it all           ---------------------------------------------

Ok so I couldnt wait for this to appear at my local mailorder outlet (chaos) so I paid the extra yesterday at a shop for immediate gratification.

It was WORTH IT!!!!!

I think this comp sits very well with the recent batch of south african releases like Nano Records Emergence, and the Alien Safari comp. I have to say that I prefer Sig Elf Proc to those other two. I think it is extremely strong.

I am listening to the Scorb tune again right now and I really like it.... good sounds.... interesting bassline. But maybe a bit slow? I dont usually say that... but maybe it should be a couple of BPM faster? doesnt matter really.....it is one of my fave tunes at the moment.

Bajolax (rinkadink rmx) is also superb.... vana going from strength to strength. Much darker than some of his other stuff. E.g. much darker than Ultima on Emergence.

Out of the 2 shift tunes (holy cow how many tunes per minute can he write??????) I think I prefer Oxygen at the moment. I dunno. Thing is Freakem is amazing.... but i think it is a bit similar to other shift tunes.... especially the end reminds me of the end of Demon Twist. Of course as Ive said before Demon Twist is one of my fave tunes.... oh well! As I was saying, Oxygen is a bit different which is good.

crikey there is not a weak tune here. They all have a particularly deep, crunchy, side and that is why SEP gets my vote. It is the best compilation I have heard for a long time.

Holy cow I almost forgot the cover art! I like it a lot..... and Ive seen it before! where? it was linked to from Isratrance a couple of months ago. Damn I can't find the link sorry.... maybe someone else remembers?

Anyway, if you take your trance black with no sugar then buy this as soon as you see it.

[Edit] : well it's a couple of days later.... you know how with some comps there are tunes which grab your attention first, then others grow on you later? So now I am listening to the NRS tune and Lapa Incordio more.... still a big 'wow' from me.
