One movie with a good soundtrack ambient sounds is Solaris with Cliff Martinez music.

I was also going to mention Cliff Martinez, but for his work in Traffic (one of my fav movies of all time).

Harold Budd did a soundtrack for a movie called "Mysterious Skin", but I've haven't seen it.

And although he's not so much "ambient" per se (he does have a strong electronic influence however), I'm quite a fan of Clint Mansell's work, especially his work for Darren Aronofsky's movies (Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain).

The game is notable for replacing the typical sound effects found in most rail shooter games with electronic music, with sounds and melodies created by the player as they target and destroy foes in the game, leading to a form of synesthesia.

i was watching 'Prison break' season 1 recently and was surprised to hear some ulrich schnauss playing in the background when the lead character is shown back in time with his father... i think the track was monday paracetamol.           Nothing is said that has not been said before.
