I recently saw Crash - and I must say the soundtrack from that movie had some very good tracks and sounds - plus not to mention the dialogue in the movie that can be used as very good samples in your set - if you are creative enuff

There are so many good ambient soundtracks for movies!

Some of my personal favourites are Solaris, Avalon, Ghost in the Shell and Mulholland Drive. I also have to mention the original soundtrack for the movie Casshern! It's not exactly chill-out although it has some ambient parts, but most of it is extremely powerful and beautiful orchestral music - could possibly be just the best soundtrack ever           www.betweeninterval.com

Passion: Music For The Last Temptation Of Christ

Produced by Peter Gabriel.

I heard this album under the influence and I must say it took me on a world safari. Every track on this album moves you from the inside. Extremely emotional sounds and an album that's very close to my heart.

Here's a random copy/paste review.

To call Peter Gabriel's Passion a pivotal recording in the development of the world music genre would be a significant understatement. What makes Passion so undeniably huge is, of course, its global reach but also its expert handling of what could've easily become polyglot babble. Vocalists Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Youssou N'Dour, and Baaba Mal bring strong Middle Eastern and African voicing to the project, and Balkan textures come via the ney flute and doudouk. But Gabriel is the glue, offering electronic ambient flows between the multiple streams. Gabriel also brings something even less tangible: an awesome visual imagination that takes often seamless sounds and makes them impress the listener with picturelike colors and phrasing. This is, however, far more than an ambient global mix. To be certain, the intertwined rhythms stand out but always do so both unto themselves and as brushstrokes on a larger canvas. Never mind that Passion helped launch North American careers for N'Dour and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, this is a stellar musical achievement by any standard. --Andrew Bartlett

The movie Corporations (2003) had a bunch of ambient artists for the soundtrack. Loscil, Boards of Canada, and others IIRC.

Also, who could forget Vangelis score for Blade Runner.
