Ambient in Greece

Hello to all!!!i hope everythings goes well to your life!
well...i have thinking many times the subject about ambient in Greece and how many people here listen ambient and understand what they listen!i believe that the most people listen mostly trance cause this music have beats,speed and all that stuff and is more friendly in the ear for the listener!
Personaly i dont listen so much psytrance these days, the most of tracks is the same without something special!i listen psy(goa)trance since 99 and now i have realised that i cant take nothing anymore from this music!With ambient i never felt betrayed for the music that i love!with psy...hmmmm soooooo many times!well i must to say that even now you can find new very good psy releases but these are so much few!!!well i dont know if someone here have the same opinion!maybe ambient is in high level and the most people they cant catch it!i dont know!when i found the first release from my lovely ultimae records everythings change inside me!i changed the view of how i look the music!The most Greek people i think they doesnt have ambient in their music database!or maybe i'm wrong!so i want to discuss this thing!
What do you believe for ambient???

Ambient is a fantastic music but i have to inform you that the kind of music that you listen from Ultimae Records is not ambient but mainly something between downtempo and chill out music which is ofcourse also great but its not ambient.
If you are looking for real and 100% ambient then do yourself a favour and buy Brian Eno-Ambient 4 On Land and Pete Namlook-The Dark Side Of The Moog 6.Amazing music from the best music minds on the planet.

verry good topic...
i dont like ambient at all....i just can find the meanning.....i think its to much complication..for my ears.....at the other hand some old psy band like aphrodites child,eloy,city,camel,.....can give some better feelings...
at the end i think its a matter of charachter and mind......

True donald ambient music is very very difficult to listen and understand and its not about giving the listener a meaning but mostly creating an atmosphere and put you into a nirvana state through its hypnotic sounds.
Its not a music for every occasion and if you ask me its a very individualistic music since you cant just call your friends and listen to some Brian Eno in order to entertain yourselves heh.
Nevertheless for me its a fantastic music once you get used to it and understand when and how you can listen to it and travel because some cds are really a unique voyage experience.

totaly with you man ..
trance is overheated
thaer is no more space
if you want to make something new with trance
you have to combine genres
more electro .. more darkopsychological sounds
but its the same and the same as you said ..
experimental psychedelic ambient is the gateway
not blinks and blanks ..
truly psychedelicid ambient ...
ps:just for me and you .. i thing you are at the point you have to expirimental with other music genres .. i was at that point .. not long time ago ..
there is an ocean of music out there .. you 'll be surpized !
i hope you 'll find the path man

first of all thanks for the replies!
to DETOX: well friend thanks for the tip of what a style is the music that ultimae records plays but i dont agree with you at all!Ultimae's style is atmosperic ambient and this style moving sometimes to ambient trance/downtempo/experimental/idm etc...but the base is 100% ambient!
so now for your suggestions i'm big fan of FAX records so...!!!
try if you dont yet...some releases from biosphere!!!just amazing!
to donald: you said exactly the point of this topic!ofcourse first of all its a matter of charachter and mind as you said, but sometimes we dont give the attention that would be supposed!we prefer the most of times something more simple and clear to listen! |

believe me friend my database of music is so big!everyday i discover so many diamonds out there with blend of styles and amazing atmosphere and vibe!as you said so many experimental good sounds out there!;)
