hz is that to much to remove from a ambient song ? I though want it to sound thin and not bassy
Please help me out

does it sound like too much?
seriously, there *only* rule I know of for music, and this goes most of all for ambient, is that if it sounds good - do it!
Cutting at 2500 will leave out a lot of meat in the piece and listeners will perceive it to be very 'high' (there will be no bass to anchor it). If you want something floaty/airy then this might be just the trick to use. |

2500 leaves you with nothing.
Making ambient doesn't mean that you need no bass at it.
Actually I see no point in sending instruments to a highpass at all. Maybe a high pass at 200hz to make sure it doesn't mess up the bass.

Using a high pass is fine,.and i think u're talking instruments...u mean pads ?
Try putting your pad sounds through massive reverbs make sure it's a bright-one, and put the verb on 100% wet...u might still want to remove the lows wtih a high-pass filter, but some reverbs already have a low-attenuator...
Good Luck...
