Alternative to EQ, more musical results.
Send the Kick + Bass to a Bus - EQ BandPass with a selected frequency area for example: (85-100 Hz or with an analize tool choose the harmonic that you want affect) play with the knee and the freq range and then put a Distord or any effect that add harmonics maybe a compressor in the end of the fxchain.
With the correct setting you can obtain a very deep bass (1st harmonic) or an aggressive one if you choose the 3rd/4th harmonic for example.
Applies to all: voices, drums, group channel, in mastering etc.
This trick consist in add harmonics in a different way than the (most) EQ does.
