We are coming to NYC from PA tonight for the party at the Refuge.
I am driving from Philly, and last time we came up, we got stuck in crazy traffic (due to construction having two lanes closed). We sat for almost two hours (within five miles of the location)!!!
Can anyone tell me if this constuction is still going on? It was on the BQE around exit 27 and 28.
If it is, can anyone suggest an alternate route through Queens? I am coming from PHilly and I think we take 287 or 278? SOmething like that.
And yes... I do know how to use Google, Yahoo, and Mapquest. But I'm not sure how to get them to give me an alternate route.
I want to try to avoid the BQE and the Tri-Boro bridge.
Thanks Friends!!!

Take NJT to Staten Island(goethals bridge) take that to verazzano bridge, take that to the BQE, exit 30....
If you want to totally avoid the BQE after verazzano take the belt pkwy to exit 14, take pennsylvania ave N, make left on bushwick, right at cooper, left on knickerbocker, right on decatur.... but this is a route that should take 10-15 minutes longer than the first one. But anything involving the triboro bridge coming from the south is silly.
sorry i didn't post this earlier, i've been busy setting up all day and haven't had access to a comp
see everyone there!

having wasted several hours of my life stuck on the clusterfuck known as the bqe, here's another way you can go to hopefully avoid some of the bk traffic:
you have to take 278 e to get to queeens from the turnpike almost no matter what unless you want to take some crazy side way thru the tunnels/manhattan, which will almost certainly take you longer.
but you can avoid the exit 27/28 nonsense if you take this route:
from the bqe,
14. Take exit 23 for 38 St
0.2 mi
15. Merge onto 38th St
56 ft
16. Turn left at 4th Ave
2.5 mi
17. Turn right at Dean St
0.2 mi
18. Sharp left at Flatbush Ave
279 ft
19. Turn right at 5th Ave
348 ft
20. Turn right at Atlantic Ave
3.3 mi
21. Turn left at Hopkinson Ave/Thomas S Boyland St
0.5 mi
22. Turn right at Decatur St
Destination will be on the right
(you can find alternate routes on google maps by zooming in on the map, the cursor will turn into a little white dot which you can drag and click and it will change your path)
hope this helps! have so much fun! i wish i could be there...
