Alter Breed is a young and very promising act from Israel comprising Vik Shagal and Alex Krupenko. Even if their discography is still in its early stages, they have a few releases at respected progressive labels such as Echoes or Blue Tunes, and this EP heralds their return to the very active Czech Tribal Vision.
1. Teleskop (original)
Telelskop delivers a gnarly siliconed bassline that picks up the rattles of the classic tech-house blueprint, propelling the track towards an intersting blend of driving techy beats and melodic Electro. The last sequences launch a modulated melody that opens out to more uplifting horizons. A nice hybrid that showcases Alter Breed’s constant progression in music production, even if some ideas bear traces of the Litvak/Ophir influence, but with a deeper and sharper edge than their recent, although quite similar output, recently released at Echoes records. In any case a great dj tool, that has already received the support of high profile DJs
2. Teleskop (Peter Horrevorts rmx)
Peter Horrevorts is a young Dutch talent whose production focuses on both House & Techno. His take on the original pours in some tropical, cheeky rhythms and a cascading, hi-pitched, tingling lead that grabs you. It’s very funky and driving and manages to keep the sweet melodic line. Perfectly fit for the morning hours of the party.
3. Under Construction
The closing piece demonstrates their craft in building a solid, undulating bassline, backed by flourishes of catchy little percussion and a heavy cymbal drive. This last installment is not as complex and developed as the first, and unfolds a brief arpeggiated melodic idea that is very indebted to Franck Beckers’ recent ouput. In that respect, the first two numbers get my preference.
