i like to make music with other ppl, alone i don t make tracks since years...i like more to work on other stuff related to production, sound libraries ,sound banks , mixing and mastering...i just don t get the motivation to make tracks like when i was younger.
but with others ppl i love it... getting few days locked in a studio with some friends is always lot of fun. |

alone.. but with periodic collabs
if you lack self discipline and ideas, duo is good. but both people must be on the same vibe... otherwise it might frustrating for one part.

both! When I'm alone I can concentrate on very small details and learning/tweaking, but when I'm with other people its much more....open ended jamming where I get to focus on the creative side.

Duo for sure! with someone who is challenging and has good ideas and can explain well... well good chemistry and that i think also means a little conflicts and argues!
Me and my brother is a great team, lots of fights lots of great music, haha!
i like working alone also but i work much faster with someone else, cause you dont want to waste time and you want to make faster progress...
i miss my brother! he is traveling right now, and i really am a anti social and have a hard time working with people as people are deceiving bastards that only care about their own good and especially egoistic psytrance people that want to stand infront of a crowd and have all the glory, no way i am sharing my skills with them so they can stand in the lime light and taking all the fame.. haha
i know thats not the way to think but inst there some truth in that? It isnt that i dont like to share, i love to share and teach others what i learnd but when people are too focused on their own agenda and only want to use others as a tool to gain their own success i think its annoying and you end up doing stuff for other that you dont want to. i remember sitting and recording some weed heads whacko sessions thinking he is a rockstar for example, or doing some school work about sound engineering with a dude that knows less then me and end up taking all the theoretical work which is the only thing that matters in school... stuff like that annoys me
so it boils down to working with someone you trust your work with. I have too many times worked with people who took all the work for them selfs or had their own agenda and only needed someone to help them... not a symbiotic unity!
But you learn after a while who these people are, hopefully! So now days i work mostly solo and i keep away from people in general, but i know there are some good ones out there... friendly and creative that want to work together as a team and share the success..

Hi Freeflow what an interesting post.I know what you mean I made similar expiriences in the past along my musical path, although with hip hop.
Nowadays I feel making music alone is the fastest progress.Alghough I think this happens to me only when creating psy with someone else.I think indeed psytrance people have an enormous ego (including myself too,or am strange maybe) so it is hard to really kinda cooperate on the same level.
With a brother it is for sure something completely different, there will always be a special connection.
Any my very few real friends are musicians aswell but they don't like the new psytrance that much and are fascinating about other genres,so I tend to create my psytrance stuff alone.
I still find musicians from other genres are a very important influence to me.
Right now I have again so much fun with psy btw ..Aleks - your mailbox is full amigo.
All the best one love and happy holydays.

funny thing is often i think that as soon as i ll get back at home i ll make a remix of the track the way i see it , it s always a compromise to work with someone else except if you have same taste. |

I think the reason duos tend to work so well is that they are often a pairing of a techie with an artist
It's rare to find someone with both creativity and technical knowhow. |

i think , when u are learning, its nice to work with someone else, that way, u can learn and improve!!
but some people have a huge ego and selfish brain!
so they dont wanna share the knowledge !!!

And the truth some dont really know how to teach and know only their own method, iv seen guys who dont know how to tweak a synth and only know how to play and sequence melodies!
Btw working with a newbie that has no knowledge at all is not a real coolaboration, its more of a student and teacher situation. There for you need to find someone who is willing to be a teacher not just someone who makes cool music.
But very true that many are egostic and selfish for sure.
