I don't know, maybe if you're considering buying the real thing, it might be useful to first get the emulation and see how it works... Or if you already have the hw synth, but want to move 100% software?

NO, V-Station isn't an emulation from K-Station. It's a copy from the K version, containing the same source code but ported to run over the PC's processor; K runs over the Motorola DSP. V & K both are emulation from (general) analog synths, but with an Oberheim-ish signature on its sound.

its not so nice of you to say such things!
the minimonsta is probably the best emulation of the minimoog out.

i ve heard samples of the minimonsta opposed to the ones of minimoog and cant really tell the difference!

Actually ... emulation does not mean wavetable synthesis !! emulation should mean that they try to reproduce the behaviour of the analog or digital devices used in these hardware synthies by reengineering it in code ! ... so a realy emulator should use no samples at all! That is the key to having all the nice infinite configurations .. the turnover is that emulators tend to use a lot of cpu time ... and if there is an emulator for the nord modular , pleeeeeasseeeee tell me what its called ! I want it !

Yeah, I was referring to the 10 gig softsynth, which indeed would be samplebased. I was just pointing out that emulating something so dynamic and flexible just with samples would be madness

Well, you are correct, Enertopia. In fact, I'd even call it not emulation but a conversion. It probably has same codebase as the K-station. Maybe it's same with BassStation too.

The hardware BassStations are analog, not virtual analog and so the software BS is an emulation.           When rain dries, clouds form.

the K-station uses 'liquid analog' technology which is indeed virtual analog. i think the very first drumstation and bassstations were analog components and VCOs using analog Sound modeling (ASM), but all the new stuff is 'liquid analog'

so, i think texmex is right, it is a conversion           Gamma Riders EP out now on iTunes and Amazon.com!

I wanted to make a list of all the emulated hardware synths out there. If you think about it, the reason someone would take so much time to emulate a particular piece of hardware, is because it was probably a really good synth, or it had some special character that really stands out. So there for if done well are probably some really good vsti's.

I just didn't know what all was out there, and it helps to have them all in one place (e.g. this thread).

Thanx for all the responses on the thread, there are already a bunch I didn't know about.

Anybody know of any others?

I'm not sure whether or not they sound like the virus or not, but either way they sound really good. The Suriv-A sounds like like it's a bit more harsh than the Suriv-B

oh yeah btw I found out it's spelled Suriv not Siruv, that made it pretty hard to find hehe.
