Do I really need to answer this - psytrance is DEFO not all about parties. Today maybe majority of commercial music is all about parties so you came to that idea.

One thing I know for sure about me and that is psytrance is not about parties for me at all. It's a nice addon to it but it's not all about it.

AFAIK Psychedelic trance was born to be listened at parties. In parties, far from cities, near nature and respectful people, where I can have peace, good vibes from everyone and a high quality sound system to propitiate powerful psychedelic experiences... with or without drugs, it doesnīt matter.
I go to less than a party per month, so I listen to psytrance much more at home that at parties. And I have a good time at home... Full on (mostly melodic), minimal, progressive and ambient/chill out. Itīs really good to enjoy the music, but at parties...
...you plan yourself a trip, prepare yourself, let the dj guide you and enjoy the vibes having lots of fun near nature.
When you listen to psytrance at home or in the car, do you have the same feelings that at parties, or you dance as much as in parties? OK, I really enjoy music at home, but a party is such a special circunstance that I almost canīt get that smile out of my face...
Someone may tell me that party music is commercial... It depends on the party and the DJ... Also, unreleased stuff is experimental stuff, itīs not as commercial as many already released "hits". I think good old stuff should be played at parties, but it seldom happens.
Specifically about full on psytrance: itīs almost "made for dancefloors". Look at all tops. Only killers allowed. People like music that create dancefloor madness, maybe because people remember or foresee how these tracks bring great vibes to the parties, making a hundred people have amazing fun and happiness at the same time. One key point is: when youīre at parties, youīre not alone, you can share...
I know there are lots of styles beside full-on (I like other styles too), and also many different people with different opinions and points of view, so Iīd like to know some of these. My opinion is no better than any other, and I want to learn with other people opinions.
IMO itīs very difficult to have a complete view of psytrance meaning without going to at least one open air festival...
Just think of it: donīt you remember much more the times you listened psy at parties than in the car? (OK, I also have friends that just canīt remember anything that happened to them at parties  )
Also, what DEFO means?

It's not all about parties, but for me it's all revolving around parties- it's just repetitive and not too complicated dance music without parties...
You can grasp only a very very limited scope of what this is all about without experiencing it in a party!

i know many people (including myself) that enjoy(ed) psytrance for years without going to a party.
but yes, there's nothing like the thrill of listening to your favorite track at a 10K sound system along with 500 people.
