just torrent the crap out of it! it's been discontinued because Rob and the guy from Linplug couldn't get it together... they offer a cross grade to Predator now, but the two of them are miles appart from each other in terms of features, sound, interface... I mean, two completely different beasts...
" (...)but a post on the KVR forum indicates that LinPlug has a new "classic subtractive synth" in the pipeline that will "accurately play back Albino 3 presets".
However, this statement has been contradicted by Rob Papen in the same thread. He claims that the new synth won't load his 2100+ Albino 3 presets and that he will "never allow" his presets to work in the new product."
this thing is about some fucking presets...

^interesting read. And really bad choice by Rob Papen not to work on on that great plug in to make it even better. A true classic one of that monsters. Not the best sounding though but still like an own world of unlimited possibilities. Agree on that fact that Predator is completly different. IMO not better although the morphing stuff is cool, but even not an audio input on board. Albino 3 is a true vsti legend.

I find funny when people ask: do you still use albino?
it can perfectly replace sylenth or other synths. it's a very powerful plugin.
people tend to forget and underrate plugins over time. albino & z3ta 1. people can make good music with just those two!

No need to imagine! I've programmed thousands of sounds in Albino. I think it's acceptable for someone to put some pride into some piece of music, or the instrument's design itself, not so much the presets... Since anyone with a good grasp on synthesis can make whatever he wants with Albino and it's actualy pretty easy to do so. I'm not certainly a preset surfer - by any means - so I honestly don't even know how his presets do sound. The only one I use is: diverse sounds>z initial preset! My favourite!

maybe rop papen as a programmer had more pleasure coding the synth... than making presets for it.
and seeing both synth and presets legacy being neglected... no one would like!
to me albino synth is more important.

so all synths must come with no factory presets
it's rewarding to program our own patches and then seeing them on a good piece of music.
but making factory presets over the years.. seams like a vague task imo.
no wonder some factory preset banks do not represent what a synth can really do.

I have albino 2!
Me too, i prefer Nro. 2, more unique and raw sound when Nro. 3 is a bit softer.. with nro 2 you can make very cool acidlines and lead sounds on top of the pads.

heheheee nice to see how many fellas like albino to.
i actually started using it because i saw this dude and i that is quite the way i wanted to go so why not.
Albino 3 has more LFO shapes and a nice subosc.
this is why i would like the version 3 but its ok with the second version too.
