Headphones for studio production and dj-ing are quite different. Studio headphones have to have a linear frequency response, and this cannot be acchieved using a closed design (soundproof earcups). Dj headphones need a closed design to stop outside noise from leaking into the earcup, so you can monitor the track you are going to mix in without the outside noise interfering. This means that a you need a (semi-)open headphone design for in the studio (the AKG K240 and K240 df are good options) and a closed design for performances (those kinky headphones by Technics, Pioneer, Sennheisser, and Sony). The AKG's are affordable, comfortable and sound awesome. |

I dunno, i'm perfectly happy with my K240 df but i must admit that i didn't try out all the competition. You could buy a K240 and spend the rest of your money on ear-protection for concerts ;-) |

ok!
Now about closed & semi-open design...
Why you think that semi-open or open design
better for home studio?
Is it you opinion or rule for studio?
As i think semi-closed more ear-friendly
you can listen it longer...
But main reason - flat frequency response...
Why? Where i can read that semi-open headphones have more flat frequency response
than closed? |
