akai format are not wave format, they are akai. use a plugin like reaktor or halion to properly use them

use cdextract program , there is an option for extracting akai cd to wave samples. |

there might be a quality issue with different conversion programs.
I think that akai was linear samples and wav was logarithmic, wasnt it?.
In that case the samples will need to be 'resampled' by a program.
so you propably want to try different tools to do it.,
btw, exs24 (logic sampler) can convert akai too..
