I'm thinking of buying a used Akai S3000XL or S5000 since you can get them really cheap. My question is, is it really worth getting a hardware sampler? I'm now using the Exs24, and it works, but there's still something I don't like about software. Hardware on the other hand, looks lovely, and seems more inspiring to use, am I right? How is it on the technically point of view? And the ease of use?

I dont no mate but i bought a yamaha A5000 a couple of years ago and hardly use it now. I mainly use Kontact now for multisamples, individual hits i simply arange in sx. I can see what your saying about hardware. i dont think you can beat a hardware synth. not from all the vstis ive found any way. none can beat my supernova 2 for sound quality. But i still want more, nord lead synth next i think. but as far as hardware samplers go they can be over complicated and take way to long to use and program which eats into your creativeness. Think im gonna sell my Yamaha and buy another sythn. intersested? and another thing is if your recording everthing down in your sequencer then your losing quality by using the samplers outputs when you can simply bounce down in your sequencer. Software samplers may eat up memory or har disk space but its cheaper to buy more of that than a hardware sampler. Why do you think they have gone down in price? I read in sos that akia are bringing out a software sampler. which could be very interseting and im gonna look out for that.

BTW if you do dont get the S3000 your emu has more fetures than that. its a really out of date sampler. if you do go for the 5000.

yeah, I think you're right.
I'm gonna stay with the soft sampler for a while and then let's see what the future holds.
