Actually, it was always $399.
Music stores in the US routinely price retail gear at below the MSRP.
I've been following this closely... checking price links since last May and getting anxious to buy one when I get back to the States in a couple of weeks. 
I've been diligently saving up my mighty euros during my Germany stay so I could go on a nice hopping spree when I get back. 
I'm going to be picking up one of these too...

Really? Wow, I didn't know that. If I had bought it here in Switzerland two weeks ago I would have payed about 800Usd (at todays rate).. incredible..
I have the small nocturn. Highly recommended indeed! Have fun with it

Yeah really, I'm here in Germany now and have been so tempted to buy it... I'm such an impatient bastard, I have to have it now, but paying nearly double the price and the hassle of taking it on the flight is holding me back (fortunately haha).
But tickets are cheap now! British Airways is offering round trip flights to NYC for ~350 euros. If you had the money it would make a hell of a weekend shopping trip.
