1. The F-2 (or F-3) key on my CS1x is not working properly!!!! I press it but nothing happens! Only one click of maybe 10 presses works! And then it works without velocity!! Using the Midimon in Reaktor I see that when I press it, it sends midi "note off". WTF?! The testing function in the reacts the same - it gives it a pass only after I press it a few times. What can it be? Dust? Age? Should I try to fix it myself or give it to someone who knows what he is doing?
2. My music computer is not working!!!!! I turn it on, and nothing happens! The power LED and the CD-ROM LED light up, but then nothing happens. The LED on the monitor is flashing, like I put my computer on suspend. Only after 5 minutes of waiting it decides to work!!!!
As you can see, 2 things not working at the same time. What can be more worse than that? ??? |

let's begin with 2: stop playing with APM, Mike :) i suspect you turned on the auto-suspend or something like this.
about 1 .... if you have no guarantee on the synth - simply open it up and clean what you see is dirty. (have you ever opened a PC keyboard ? seen how much dirt there is ?) note, i hope you're not one of these crazy pianists, who break the keys :), in which case you'll have to get a new key in the repair shop. this you'll see too - something will look fishy comparing to the other key.
if the synth is on guarantee, give it to them.
bom.

1. It suddenly decided to work after 2 days!! I think I have bad energies in my room... But I think I'll open it. It's maybe 3-4 years old now, I think I should clean it up a little.
2. I didn't touch any APM or all of those power managment shit.. I mean, the BIOS doesn't even come up. How does the computer know that it's on suspend? |

The BIOS loads, but only after 5 minutes.
Music computer = computer with only music stuff on it. Which is not this computer. It's the computer in my room with the synth on it. |

THe BIOS allways works with a battery - :)
it seems quiet strange about the 5 min start up ...
you sure you didn't touch anything? it just started suddenly?
about the KEyboard - open it up, get that KEY out - look inside what's the problem - try to press it with some pencil after opening and test it. |

give more details: does it start regularly ? does it print something ? is your monitor connected well ? is your CPU connected well ? what was the last strange thing you did to your computer before it started doing this ? (new programs/parts added, changed slots of something , maybe you have a UPS .. )

I can't just pull out the key - it's a synth! Not a computer keyboard!
I added another 128MB a few days before it started - but it worked perfectly after. I'm sure I did nothing. Nothing at all. I'll try to open my comp and see if everything's ok there. |

try changing slots to the memory simms.. try turning on the pc while disconnecting one pci card at a time.. check the cables inside.. if nothing happens you either need a new tower or a new motherboard..
(but then again computers are crazy so..who knows...) |
