A week ago Simon Posford put this classic tune (The Jam & Spoon remix) in the middle of his dj set and the crowd went wild. Am i the only one around that thinks that the importance of this tune in forming Trance and Goa Trance music was slightly overlooked?
Here's the tune if you don't remember or too young to know.
Discuss...

For Trance music it was for sure a very influential tune.
I actually don't recall hearing it much in Goa around the time but more in rave/warehouse parties.
IMO it's a trance classic without a doubt, but not a Goa trance classic....it's a bit more minimal and cheezy than most Goa stuff around that time.
Great tune though.

I think that putting any tune from any Platipus release will blow the dancefloor.
np: Etnica - Trip Tonight
I may rise, but I won't shine ...

When this lovely track released I dont think that psychedelic goa trance was playing at clubs,(at least in athens)so this means that is very possible to made an influence for the next generation of goa-psy trance.
This one track was the top hit in greek rave parties as a pure mellow trance.
it refresES wonderfull memmories of youth..

Err. Old or new, whatever this guy done to the people on the dancefloor can't be put in words. No contemporary prog, psy or full on act can get anywhere near that mayhem. I prefer Gamma Goblins part 69 than todays vacuum cleaner noise music. Sorry.

You managed to disrespect Posford, denigrate the practise of playing classic tunes in modern sets, and botch your own URL--all in one tight little message. Nice going. Come back when you've put out anything trance fans will be listening to three years after the date of release.

Trance classics defifnately do have there place- and properly mixed into a set of new tunes, they can be amazing. Long as they stand they test of time, quality wise.
I still own LOADS of old vinyl, both trance and psytrance tracks- many still kick ass on the dance floor
I have some old phrana tracks and tristen tracks that can stand up against anything. Then there are some astral projection tunes that have virtually no bassline and sound thin. (still love em, but wouldnt play em live)
It always depends on the track.
As far as early trance stuff,... again- I own lots of old records - some are weak, but a few are really amazing still today.
I am all for new and totally having it tunes ( and I do love wildthings tunes too) - but to say that classics should be chucked on the rubbish heap at the risk of sounding "old" is just kinda silly
I will never get rid of my old vinyl
Trance is the answer

@ Pavel: Platipus releases were not directly related to the Goa scene, but it overlapped with it for some time. At the time The Age of Love peaked, it already was been played in different trance nights. It became clear to the crowd that Goa trance and trance belonged to different leagues. I remember that I simply put the Octopus releases by Platipus aside after my first Goa trance experience - very very distinct styles. But anyway itLs a beautiful, melodic track.
Peace.

One more comment: by the time The Age of Love was featured in a lot ot releases, along with Red & Jerry, Friends Lovers & Family and other mid 90s trance producers, you could find fresh Goa releases such as Why Not RecordsLs Destination Goa series, RumourLs Goa Trance series and some compilations. So at the time trance already was branching off.

haha...don't get your knickers in a twist Basilisk....
it's been an ongoing joke in the u.k that posford has been playing the same set for the past 10 years.
and in regards to our label when that 3 years comes i'll let you know(or u could let me know) if people are still playing our older tunes(3 years ain't that long)
don't take me wrong..posford is old skool ,and mixing in the odd old psychedelic tracks is absolutely fine by me...but come on...Age of Love!!
oh yes...don't chuck your old tunes away..everyone always regrets thats.

i think Jam & Spoon made some classic trance tunes...age of love is simply a devine tune
and i am sure older trancers would be put in a state of bliss...the newer ones might not recognize it though....btw didnt one of the jam & spoon duo die some time back ?
