I really like African music, and I'd like to know your preferences.
I can recomend you to listen Orchestra Baobab (Senegalese afro-cuban music), Hossam Ramzy (Egiptian percussion), Afel Bocoum (Afrobeat music from Mali),Fela Kuti (Afrobeat and fussion from Nigeria), Cesaria Evora (Afro flok from Cape Verde), Hassan Hakmouk (Afro jazz fussion from Morocco)...
Peace

If you like really tribal rhythms and beats that you can't help but shake your arse to, then I recommend Mamady Keita, a djembefola from Guinea, who plays and sings traditional West African music with his various collaborators. His Djembe Master compilation from 2004 is a good place to start.
Here's a recording of Djole, a very well-known piece throughout West Africa, and one of my personal favourites.
And on a very similar theme, may I introduce Nansady Keita (no relation), who is not only a gifted teacher and mesmerising performer, but also an absolutely TOP bloke.
Here's a fab recording of him doing what he does best. I'm not familiar with the rhythm, but who cares?! Look at those hands go, man...
