im making music for 3 years on my PC , i even bought a midi keyboard to help me along

i started using midi files only a year ago ... but i seems that all the leads , pads synth i make dont mix with my bass and drums i make ... [ and i make trance drums and bass, really cool with variations and FX]

someone told me that i must use all notes in a single scale in the song that i make [bass , pad , lead .... all in the same musical scale so it will mix]
true?

and spend 3:51 minutes please and listen this track i made for example: great bass and a superb drum part [ only midi] and i cant mix any musical groove into it lol

pls listen to it and give me some tips where i can insert an arp , pad etc

here is the track >>> http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=99C39987108F659A

thx to all helpers!!!

I liked your track, needs more stuff but so far so good, how did u do the hats 3:30 you leave all alone?

Thta's true all the instruments you add should be in the same key and stuff, a friend of mine is been helping me with that and I bought some books about it, and there are several articles about it on the net.

Yes besides everything we learn until now, we have to learn music theory as well...take a look on idiot's music composition, but first you have to learn the basic piano notes, chords and stuff, then you'll learn with notes and chords go along witth eachother, it's a pain..lol

from 3:30 its a normal hat sound with EQ than compressed ,and velocity editing in the piano roll

taked me about 11 minutes to make this sound

imho, u should go take some piano lessons...that makes 60% of your job done...and yes it is important that your leads, pads bass etc. sould be in the same key...they even say that in order that your kick drum and bassline go well, the kickdrum should be in a particular key that matches to the key of the bassline...go figure

its in your ears (and head)

if kick and bass fit very good together , probably they match in harmonic way or another

i dont care for tuning my percussion , but i do play with their pitch alot (kinda "by ear" , and not 100% accurate tuning)

pad - 1:20 , 1:40

arp. - 2:02

later on combine the 2..

and try use exect notes of bass first then keep play with scale

its like this if u synth ure kiks theres no prob cause the only thing u have to do is do the kik at the same frequency as the tónic of the track ure creating.like if ure doing a song in A u should do ure kik at 55 hz cause thats the corresponding freq to A0..the pads and synths well just inspire ure self ull do alot better!!!!:)

your`e making music... music has certain rules... or basic theory. psy isnt different than any other form of music. it too has to fit within some set of rules. so my suggestion is buy a music theory book or google away for it. it will sure take alot further and help you understand lots of things which you may find mysterious right now. its realy quite simple ( the basics) once you got te basics down than you could start to make more complex stuff and sort of "break the rules... "           if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...
