"This in-between season, the one which does not exist but can at times be perceived.
It could be the Indian Summer or the beginning of Spring, something contrasted and filled with unusual lights."
"This fifth climatic season is the basis of the album conception. Tracks were created in times of pause and transition periods".
As you may know, downtempo trance evolves in the same way as psychedelic trance, both styles get more refined.
With Season 5 nobody will be disappointed.
It is a rich album full of great flying melodies in the unique Aes Dana style. The "Trip Hop Mermaid " Pascale Auffret (Cox 6, Hum drum Drama, Mister O) laid down her unique ethereal and vibrant voice on 4 tracks.
It is a marvellous journey into ethereal spheres. The deep floating bass sounds and tribal beats are surrounded by peaceful melodies.
Track 1 "Natti Natti" is a beautiful and peaceful track. A little bit melancholic with a very slow 4/4 beat and very nice fx hi-hats . This album will transport you through many landscapes from this Earth... and beyond!
Track 2 "Peripherics" has a long and deep intro and follows the feeling of the 1st track with nice flying melodies. It is a downtempo track with a big "D", slow beat and deep bass. The journey continues =)
Track 3 "Season 5", one of my favourites here. I just love the bass, the melodies and the tablas. Downtempo with a big "D" again!
Track 4 "Undertow" released on Fahrenheit 3, my second preferred track here has this incredible beat that I'm dying for and is more ambient-trance as well as :
Track 5 "Gatewick" my 3rd favourite, which has nice airport samples and great melodies. A real perfect after party morning track!
Track 6 "Dew" (herbal version) has no beat at all, but is fresh as the first hours in the morning, when the first rays of sunlight appear... I love it too =)
Track 7 "Chrysalis" gives me an oriental feeling with his samples and melodies and Pascale's voice is just excellent! I love it!
Track 8 "Onset Data" is too deep for my taste. I really think it is more of a track fulfilled for the artists own feelings. Even after many listenings, it still didn't reach me. The voice is beautiful but too high!
Track 9 "Forest Fish" my 6th beloved track (!)... Well what can I say? It is all about Aes Dana's unique style but more oriented in deep tribal sounds. Wonderful trip in the rainforest for me! :o)
Track 10 " Suspended Grounds" out on Module 1 (3D Vision records) finishes this album in beauty and leaves your mind at the point where you started to listen! Great wide suspended grounds floating around a sunshine. :o)

This is intelligent downtempo ambient/trance music, an album everybody must listen to at least once this year, anywhere and anytime...

Ultimae Records is an interesting French Label which has a very special and unique Ambient style that i like particulary.
(at first, they was Infinium Records)

They released so far the 3 parts of Fahrenheit Project plus Solar Fields - "Reflective Frequencies", Asura - "Code Eternity" (their first release) and more one album that i don't remember which is right now.

Aes Dana - "Season 5" is already on my way           - BEing mySELF

Hi Patient ! Hi everyone !
I'm Mahiane (Sunbeam) from Ultimae...
Nice to read your words
You're right about the compilations, there are 3 of them and we are planning part 4 for a release this year.
For the albums, we did Asura, Soalr Fields and Aes Dana. Magnus from Solar Fields is with us in the studio to finalise his album. Out on 19th March...

Dj Zen described in a good way the spirit of this Album !

An AMAZING trip to listen since the beginning till end, while you are studying or reading or when you want to chill & calm down.

I think it's a VERY mature release with the typical Ultimae atmosphere which is quite involvent !!!

GREAT work !!!

Congratulations to Vincent Villuis & Mahiane (Aes Dana) and to the Ultimae Crew
(very professionals, these guys!) !!! !!!

Oh ! and beautiful Artwork also !!!

Thanks           - BEing mySELF

Aes Dana- Season 5 (Ultimae, 2002)
1. Natti Natti 7:01
2. Peripherics 7:15
3. Season 5 8:46
4. Undertow 6:54
5. Gatewick (vinyl airport delay) 7:37
6. Dew (herbal version) 6:18
7. Chrysalis 7:48
8. Onset Data 7:23
9. Forest Fish 5:15
10. Suspended Grounds 5:37

Well, I've heard a lot about Ultimae, an independent French ambient label with an idealistic chill vision, but haven't heard their music yet. Just got their three last releases and I'm a very happy man for it- also more relaxed.
Season 5 is one of these albums that you put in the background and do your thing, whatever it is, and then you find yourself running to the CD player to check "what track was that" every time you play it, and it's always a different track. And so, I'm already in love with this album, and there's still time to find new things. Season 5 is a relaxing story that develops slowly and with a flow, it's all about atmosphere, it's all about emotional sounds and melodies, and it's all done in such a subtle way, and still manages to penetrate and touch you deep inside. The story develops from a very relaxed background start with Natti Natti, builds more of an atmosphere in Peripherics, goes deeper with a psychedelic touch in the excellent Season 5, then sails to light emotional melodic realms in Undertow and the Astral-like Gatewick. The sailing continues with the very liquid, watery Dew & Onset Data, visits foreign atmospheres with some vocal and ethnic touches in the caressing Onset Data and Forest Fish, and it all ends in the abstract floating suspended sounds of Suspended grounds.
This is an album and it should be listened to as an album. It's a beautiful highly recommended release with great music inside a beautiful cover that I have a feeling will be a good companion for a long time for me.

Bottom Line: Excellent relaxed journey to dive into and float around with. Highly recommended. Favorites: 3, 4, 5(!), 6(!), 8, 10.           ---------------------------------------------
