Hi sound freaks !
Can you help me to choose?
Finaly i find a little money and wonna
to buy hardware. My first synth !!!
YEAH!!
I want:
1. Prefer modular synth
2. As mush as possible knobs, faders...
3. About 800$...

I like that amazing Nord G2, but i have not so much money ( 2500$ in Russia )...
Nord MicroModular - but they have only 3 knobs...

And if i don't spend this money - money disappear ( beer, girls, rok-n-roll )

Your advice ppl? Plz!

You wont get all that for 800$. The cheapest real modulars are Doepfer and they cost alot more.
I think you should look at a second hand Nord Modular.

if you're begging to create your own patches check a synth like the jp8000/jp8080

it's simple, good from psy and has a knob/fader for every function so you'll learn fast

another good and cheap one is the novation nova. althoght it's a more complicated synth you can get lost, but it has buttons for almost everything

modulars are usually very expensive, the best option is a nord, i think
roll a joint or STFU :)

Hi,

What's your opinion of novation ks-4. I know it's a great synth. But is the sound great? Is it any good for noncheesy fat sounds?? Is it good for psytrance?

jp8080 - GREAT!

..and i wonna more flexibility, do not like hardwired osc->filter->amp

I hear sound from demo Nord G2...
And now i love this synth forever!

Thnx mate!
I need to go to shop and HEAR, TOUCH and play
with this synth...

What your opinion about modular synth?

Maybe better to save money and buy G2?

Think about that: if the synth has two operators FM (or more), HPF and /or BPF, OSC SYNC and portamento, it's suitable to make psytrance. Is there something wrong with those amazing cheesy fat sounds used in Euro-trance? I don't think so...
Anyway, look at here:

Jesus,
For $800, you could choose among AN1x (great keyboard, powerful sound), JP80x0, MicroQ (about $450), Virus B etc. I'm sure I would go to Virus B...
Or buy MicroQ + AN1x (it's possible with $800).

buy the rturia moog modular, or reaktor, of vaz modular, or tassman modular.

Then buy a good midi-controller

it'll be cheaper then a real modular like the g2, but if your pc isnt fast enough even with the controller it will be frustrating to use these softsynths because of latency, you won't have that with the g2 or a doepfer.

check for the nord modular , you can have it for 500 or 600 euro , lot of knobs and 2 octaves keyboard, but now it s old and i heard there is some compability issu ...or just buy a midi controller.

why would you still buy a hardware modular? it's huge and has lot's of cables... A nord G2 is a soft-synth too you know, it just has a box with some dsp's and some knobs on it, without a pc it's usable, but damn near impossible to operate...

@ Pom

the nord modular is maybe old, but it received updates till about two years ago and it still sounds better then 99% of the vsti's...

So it really might be worth saving for the G2, if it's gonna receive updates as long as the nord modular (which is actually version 1), you'll be having an updated synth untill 2012!!
don't forget it can also be used as a vst controller...

jesus, you just mention it man, save a little bit more and get the dream. i know it;'s different feeling to create your own sound with semi virtual patches and g2 is the decent great choice so far and it has a killa processors also the one before it is fantastika but i know the feeling of touching that actual tempting bad red boy... good luck!

Tnhx alot for all!!!

Yesterday i quarell with my girlfriend, and
buy midi controller Evolution UC-33e ))
And two stand for monitors ))
I spend all my money and will die of starvation )
But if i however will survive i buy
most likely Nord G2 Rack.
Becouse i already found knobs, and wonna THAT INCREDIBLE AMAZING sound!

What you think about it?
Do you think it will comfortable?
I already own Oxygen8.

About Reactor and other soft-synth.
Before i hear WHAT SOUND can produce hardwire
i believe that all can be maked with soft.
I mistooke.

But another point of view - comfortable.
What you think about it?
