Hello , i have always work mixerless and i like the simplistic aproach it gives, and i had managed fine with the existent inputs in the souncard. Now i got another synth and a bass guitar, so i need more inputs. I got hold for a Yamaha MC1602 analog mixer. its old and kinda vintage i guess. I dont know adding it my rig is gonna be useful. I mean it has a warm sound, and a little noisy at times. I kinda like the UV meters and the edgy sound but my question .
Is this mixer appropiate for an electronic setup??? i also record guitar and bass as well as

it's appropriate if you can use it, or learn from it.

i've got a big old Soundcraft desk which i don't use at the moment (my studio is too small ). it seems to me that the main advantages of working with an analogue desk are character; driving analogue channels hard can produce loveliness, and the EQs can be really good; and also the shift you *might* make to mixing out-of-the-box, which turns the mix process itself into a creative performance. anytime you run a digital signal through an analogue process you are necessarily imparting small amounts of distortion which we often perceive to be pleasurable, but of course the amount of noise and the quality of your components are important. if you want to record bass etc. directly into it the quality of the preamps becomes important. i don't know your desk specifically, but your soundcard's inputs might be better...

if you're looking for something which can be fully integrated into your DAW then a modern hybrid mixer is probably better - one that can send/receive from your PC and thus recall your track settings etc... but if you're just looking to manage your inputs and occasionally add some character, then i'm sure it will be useful and fun

Giving us information about your current soundcard setup, might help seeing a clearer picture of what's going on over there...           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

I suppose you could try using it as an addition to the motu. If you already record using Motu's preamps, see how the mixer preamps can work out.
Usually though, a desk's preamps are not the scream of town...
You can also try checking out how mixing with the desk is different, route differnt channels from the motu to the desk and loop it back into the motu for recording. A nice "science" project too
