adventure travelling to A.U.M. festival

Greetings....
One of the exciting things about the AUM festival is that is quiet easy to get to from all parts of the county....
I have been researching rental vans, which can seat 4 to 5 people, and the price breakdown, and have been surprised to find that round trip from san francisco (and san diego) for one week of travelling, round trip to be around 200$...
Lets discuss travel and ways to get to the festival... it might be quiet fun to ride with other adventure seekers....
below is a repost of the research I did for travel from california
I have been doing some research for the travel there, and have been coming up with a tentative travel plan...
Thursday eve. July 19th, depart for Mystic hot springs, utah... stay the nite... really sweet looking hot springs, and stay perhaps in there tee pee...
satuday evening, stay in denver... perhaps at some fun place??? and then be at eureka springs, sunday evening, so we can begin to set up on monday morning....
Arrival back to san francisco, from AUM is tentavely scheduled for the evening of saturday, August 4th (....
we hope to go back through the lovely town of austin, and perhaps throw down at a shindig... I will be travelling at least with One Freak of Nature... perhaps another musician as well... so, if you are in austin, we'd be down.. but it'd might have to be a thursday nite thingy? does that happen there...
so, friday nite, august 3rd, perhaps stay in southern arizona, perhaps in eden (another hot springs), and then back to san francisco, arriving that saturday nite....
we also would like to stop by annasazi ruins on the way back to california...
if there are four people in the van, itll be 332 roundtrip, for gas and rental cost, each,.... 266 each if there are five people in a van.... (please note these prices are for two weeks of van rental)
for people driving from the west coast, through utah, mystic hot springs seems a really phat place to stay... and its 15 dollars a nite camping, and that includes soaking...
if you are using this to help you price your trip...
630 dollars for the gas, in a minivan, roundtrip, to the party and back from san francisco
and 300 a week for the minivan rental... i think you can specify with a luggage rack...
there are two routes, one through texas, and one not... we will take the no texas route on the way there, and then take the southern route on the way back....
so, thats the word on the street....

This sounds great Dylan!!! Wish we had some hot springs on our journey!! However for those coming from the southeast area we are also organizing similar travel options...Anyone interested in prices for renting a mini van and travelling from the Atlanta, GA/ Greenville, SC/ Asheville, NC/ Tennesee/ Southern Kentucky area please send me a PM and I will hook you up with fellow travelers!!!  |

another forum for the exchange of ideas for your travels to this july's Aum festival.
here is a repost from another threads which was travel related as well....
Meghan and I have kinda been doing that here
in Ohio.
We are renting either a car or a van
depending on the number of people going
with us.
As of right now we are looking for
3-4 more people to go down with us.
The cost per person will be
$150-200 depending on the number
of travelers. That's the cost
of rental with insurance and
6-10 fillups. We are offering
a free Festival ticket to anyone
who wants to leave from Akron, Ohio.
We are leaving Akron, Ohio Thursday
7-26 and leaving the Festival Sunday
the 29 to be back in Ohio by Monday
July 30. We have to work, so we can't
stay all week unfortunately.
