i know that the bass and the kick should be at the same range or somtihing like that, they should be at the same freq but i'm realy didnt get the full picture yet.

kick & bass are both at the low side of the mix but they shoudn`t be at the same frequency. usually the bass is lower the the kick.
bass - 60-80hz
kick 80-150hz
it all depands on the kick you choose and the pitch (note) of your bass.           check out! www.soundclick.com/spasm

dont think you will get an explanation.
it is just different every time and it depends on what you wanna hear.
where you need to be cautious is on ultra low freq's (30-80) - where you need pay attention that there is no clipping.
but i htink nobody can give you answer because it all depends on what you want

yeah, there is no "rule" for how to make a good kick/bass, the best tool you can use are your ears and your experience...

try to eq and compress, experiment!

You can make pockets for the kick and the bass in the frequency spectrum, use a Parametric EQ for good result. example, cut the kick a little where the bass is most active, experiment on how deep or wide the pocket needs to be, some frequency analysis tool can be good for this. like Inspector(check kvr-vst´s effects department) but like Fluo said, use your ears..

it all depends on if you want the kick to be phat or the bass. they can be phat in different spectrums though, if you put it that way =) though you want some kind of connection between the two instruments... get them to omph together

That's a deep question and not for short answers but anyway,

The best is to use your ears with a good acoustic in your studio it will be easier to get them together-

as triptocoma said it all depends on if you want the kick to be phat one or is it the bassline

notice that both bass and kick sharing the same frequencies more or less but- how they fit together it's depend on the type of kick and bass you choosed,

fat kick goes with thin bass
fat bass goes with thin kick

it's just an example don't catch the words,

I will short my words and direct you to this page

read this good and carefully- that's a better explantation then my,

Good luck

Also, try ducking the bass when a kick hits. And removing frequencies below 30Hz to get a heaps cleaner mix!
