i personally didn't work with this model exactly, but that is a pro audio equipment, and i guess they are very good.
correct me if i'm wrong, i doubt someone would build a specific monitors to control acoustic music only... that is all sound which works the same way - electronic or instrumental.
if you want to buy those, consider that they should be placed in medium sized control rooms (i guess thats 20m+).

just looking at the site and they say it s midlefield ,i guess it would be overkill if you are in a small/medium room .
the s3x seems very good too but if you spend that much in monitors you better listen to them in your room before buying.( have read few times some producers enjoying more the p22 over the s3a for electronic, p22 beeing more fun with the 8 vifa woofer and translate well but for accuracy and pure mixing monitor i guess the s serie smoke them ) |

Woah, those speakers require a rather big studio to properly utilize (they are midfield speakers after all). I use S2As myself and I can say that Adam speakers beat the crap out of Dynaudio and Genelec offerings at the same prices - but it is a matter of taste (well, not really about Genelec being overpriced for their quality), and if you're searching for midfield speakers then it should be really obvious that you already have a large studio with the acoustics set up properly (for a small/medium studio, the S3X-H is already pushing it and may cause trouble with anything but top notch acoustics due to frequency excitation). Maybe you should just rent speakers for side-by-side evaluation, or go to a place where you can do this.
I bought my speakers after comparing them with Dynaudio offerings in the same studio and found that they offer a lot more details in the mids and trebles and while they don't go quite as low the bass is somewhat tighter than equally priced Dynaudio speakers. The S series is the way to go for monitoring purposes as it is incredibly accurate, clean, and detailed where it counts... but I am biased here, so you should really check it for yourself.

hi people... thanks for all the valuable inputs...
yes my studio is mid-sized studio. 20 sq meters...
with professional acoustics (correct materials, modules, bass traps, angles etc.. etc... its done by munroe acoustics)
and i wanted monitors that would be for a medium-large room so that i have enough 'room' and dont have to push them.
@Makus.... yes i didnt mean that they are 'designed' for acoustic/live... i was just saying/ asking if they are better suited for acoustic / live / band rather than electronica production.
However my studio (which is in Goa!) is going to be for bands as well as electronica...
so you think these Adams can fulfill both well?
Wizack - i guess you say they are good for electronic:)
this studio will be ready soon and is available for people to rent:) so if you hear of anyone who might be interested... let me know!
and any more feedback on this would be suuuper.
cheers. JJ

com on man,why ask in this pricerange anyone "how are these"?The only way to dicide what monitor fits best to your needs, is to try (listen to) them.
I don´t care what others say about this or that monitor, have to listen!!

+1
I was so dissappointed after spending a few houres listening intensively to a huge amount of speakers.
What I find out is that all the jazz about ADAM is exaggerated IMO.
I was 99,9% sure ADAM will be my choise but the hearings were too clear and to intense too convincing of the opposite that it is not worth to spend more than necesseary.
I took a nice time out listening to a lot of productions from many genres to make it clear for me.
To me for instance there is not that Huuuge difference between adam or yamaha - as an example.I find yamaha not as revealing as Fostex, but that is only a bit and my personal perceivement.
I would defo prefer some genleck than any adams in this range of speakers.
That is personal,go to a store for an intense personal testing, nothing better than this.

Best way is to audition, sound is very personal and subjective.
Adam monitors are known for a crispy unadulterated high frequency because of the ribbon tweeter. so to some that might be too bright whereas some might find it good, depends on your taste.
The proved and tested for electronic music though would be the dynaudio bm6a or higher models from dynaudio.

I have Adam P33 in my studio. I bought them 2 months ago. All i can say they are best monitors i ever worked... and fuck yeah...i've been working with few different studio monitors so far.
Right now i must remake the mastering for my new album, and also the old albums , because i came to the conclusion that the monitors i've been working before was a stupid joke.
Cheers
  NEW ALBUM OUT SOON !!!

lol... Adam monitors with a pricetag of over 3000 euro each, are they good?
check if the 20 m2´s is enough for them. i use ADAM S1´s, very small ones and dont have to push them to produce.
and with this price-category i would check out gearsluts for competitors or confirmation of your choice. |
