I have A7's - they are really good nearfields. If you worry about the bass response, they got more than enough bass for tracking and mixing biz in smaller control rooms and home studios - dance (trance) music included Bass is tight, controled and punchy, but not overhyped like on some cheaper monitors. Don't expect wonders without the sub - but that goes for other nearfields in this price range, too. Mids and highs - very distinctive sounding due to the Adam ART (ribbon) tweeters, some people like ribbons, some people hate them - you should check for yourself. I find those tweeters very revealing and crystal-clear sounding, but it's really a matter of taste.
In general, I find A7's flat, controlled and non - flattering when mixing on them, you'll know if anything is wrong with your mix or recording. And most importantly, they seem to translate very well to other systems. If you can, give them a try and compare them with some other monitors within the reach of your budget and then decide - trust YOUR ears ) |

Just a word of warning when trying to pick a monitor by auditioning them:
It does take some practice to know what to listen for.
The one that simply sounds best is rarely the best monitor.
IMO you really have to work with a monitor to be able to asses the important factors like how easy it is to make mixes that translate well and how good they are at revealing flaws.
Also some people like their monitors to have a very bright top end since they feel it gives them better control in that area, and some people find it really important that they don't fatigue the ears by being a bit smoother in the treble.
In a quick audition it's easy to get impressed by the detailed treble, but you might later realise that you find the monitors to be fatiguing to work on.
I haven't used any ADAMS myself, but I almost only hear positive stuff about them so I guess you can't go far wrong with them.
The only complaints I heard is that some people do find them fatiguing to work with.
If that's a concern for you I would check out some Dynaudios or Tannoy Reveals or Precisions.
If you know a shop where you can bring them home for a while to make sure you like working with them or otherwise swap them for something else that's always the best option.

Id like to add that when choosinga monitor you must consider the enviroment where you are going to use them.
e.g. size and shape of the room where you locate them |

funny,i find them exactly the opposite, non fatiguing. and yes,i tried both dynaudio bm6 and adam p11.ended up getting the p22 model.
but yeah, like spindrift said try to bring them home and judge them by yourself, thats the best way if possible.

I also don't find the A7 very fatiguing but I rarely produce on very high volumes.
They are quite flat and translate pretty good to other systems though you might want to save a bit more to get a bigger pair like the p11 or dynaudio bm6a which go more down in the frequencies. Overall the sound is very detailed, especially the mids and highs (ribbons ) The bass response is also ok for me, got no probs until now.
As the others wrote before, you should definately compare different models and speaker sizes and you'll find out what's the best solution for you. For sure it's also a question of money. And in the end the sound qualitiy is always also a question of your room accoustics. Better also invest in some treatment.

p 22 rocks but i know some of the adam are very sterile and maybe fatiguing cause of that,in my experience what sound good on monitors are often some of their weakness so if everthing sound like sit on them dont be scary |

thanks everyone
unfortunatly none of the dealers stock adam moniters round my area so i cant actually test them out before i buy them. i have considered dynaudio bm5a but they are £200 more expensive here and apparently in the same league anyway.
i would like to treat my room but it really isnt practical for me at the moment. i live in a squat and never know when im going to move or how long ill be in the same place, its something i will definately do in the future though.
so has anyone got any tracks i can hear that were mixed on a7's? |

Welll i have the A7 myself, i will say that the high freqs are amazing and the mid ones great too, some low end basses are not enough but after a while youll know where to pull and twist to get those.
You can contact me or try the "new tracks" section, all my last tracks were made & mixed on them.

I don't think you can judge monitor speakers by others mixdowns. Having good monitor speakers will not make your mix sound good. It always depends on the mixing engineers ear, the room and of course the speakers as well as other gear like audio interfaces, converters and so on. There are also many artists around here having produced and released tracks and even whole albums on normal hifi-speakers or as I read here like OTT on an old ghetto blaster. Imo you shouldn't make a decision based on other guys mixdowns.
