bad vibes .... there may be those many less people at the artists next event!! bad marketing karma!

why the wrong kind of airs in an industry that provides entertainment service?

i don't think it was fair to the people who made an effort to be there. Is there such a thing as enough people?? this is something i've never heard of!!           "... b'om ..."

Even though I agree with you, it's not up to me to do that because:

1. I wasn't at the event,
2. I had no direct dealings with the act(s) regarding the event,
3. I had no direct dealings with the promoter(s) regarding the event,
4. Therefore, I don't have all the facts, so it's best not to drop names.

why so proper!?

It was Psynina allright. 300 dancers and 70 pages of isratrance just wasn't enough.

anyway, a topic like this is pointless unless you're going to drop them names.

Also reminds me of an unforgettable moment as a DJ... putting 3 people to sleep on the chill floor... miss that vibe ... everyone seems to want to dance these days.

bringing out names here would be like bad taste gossip, like the ones on afternoon tv shows do.

if you are a promoter, you would already know, if it's a real fact. if you don't, ask a fellow promoter.

it's not a rumor, not a flame. it's a fact. (propably written in another forum already, don't know)

Then what is this discussion about? Waiting for someone to say 'Yes, it's cool to not play for people'.... and then flame that user? Dramatic topic in the first place... would actually make sense with a name.

yeah discussing this without name is really pointless!!

The topic was made to talk about the issue in general, not to hang people on the cross.

It is an issue that sometimes one comes across artists whose egos are so large that they think for one reason or another that it's okay for them to do this. This is not an isolated incident... it happens regularly around the world. It's an issue because no matter how it boils down, it's unfair to you, the paying partygoer. It's unfair to the promoter, who puts his/her money/energy/reputation on the line, when sometimes circumstances beyond their control cause a less-than-expected turnout. If an artist wants to hurt his/her own reputation by doing something like this, that's one thing, but behaving like that hurts the entire scene. If there is an issue between the artist and the promoter, it needs to be settled on that level. Refusing to play outright because the artist has a less-than-desired turnout is essentially taking it out on the very people who did come out and paid to enjoy the night and support. Those are the very people whom these artists depend on and that isn't right.

Yidam, dropping a specific name will accomplish little to nothing. Raising general awareness of the problem potentially accomplishes more. The people who frequent these forums represent a small percentage of the community population as a whole. Dropping a specific name would actually cause more drama than good. Besides, it's not my responsibility to do that. It's the responsibility of people directly involved with the situation to do so. Me or anyone else not directly involved (especially based on second-hand information) doing that would only feed the rumor mill, like Oxya said. The events that Oxya and I are referring to are not the same events anyway. Not even the same countries. Which makes a statement as to the commonality of the general issue in itself.

Let's try to stick to the topic.

Aw comon, it'll be fun and you know it.

Anyway, as a promoter the answer is simple.

If you don't play you don't get paid... or get your ticket out of the city... or that room you're supposed to get after ... or dinner... or even a falafal sandwich. But you do get an isra topic to your name.

If the artist has a manager then we hold you hostage until the manager has paid back all the booking costs incurred... but no free isratopic for you sorry.

^ so this can happen only by WELL known artists who care too much for their IMAGE , for example a video on youtube with not a stadium full of DJ worship attenders

so i assume that these artists should be on the "famous" wankers side for the money and image and dont care at all if they play or not

i think that nowadays we have to expect such acts even in the psy scene unfortunately
