I heard a story about a party that happened near me recently where the two international headlining acts refused to perform and left the party because there weren't enough people at the event for their taste. (I'm told there were less than 100.)

What's the general opinion on that?

if they agreed to play for free it shouldnt be any problem for them to play imo. But if the organiser told them "it will come around 300 people and u will get your money dont worry".. and 50 ppl showed up, perhaps they got pissed.
i donno.. if they got paid and all before and just becouse there wasnt enought people they acting like fucking idiots and should be treated like it.

If you got payed, you should play for an empty room.           Spacecamppsyfari.com

Unfortunately my information is second hand, so I don't know if they got paid their booking fee or not. However, even if their transportation alone was already covered, and there were 40 people waiting to hear that person play, and they didn't... well, I think that's still pretty dumb.

thats really shit man ...
if acts do like that they dont really deserve to be there
maybe they are few people but act should do hes job for what hes there

and one more thing
if organiser waited for more people and kinda small number of people come to that party... they should get deal for a price and not leaving hollow hands
this thing its happening alot these days

1. if we're talking about the same incident, i have the info confirmed.

2. though i know about a single artist (not 2 as mentioned above)

3. the fest (not indoors party) had a lot of people attending.. it just happened that most people were somewhere else (or maybe left because of the hilarious set of previous artists) and were not of the time the artist was supposed to perform.

4. the specific artist is famous in the scene and he DID get half money in advance and insisted taking the rest too, because he said he'd be performing elsewhere anyways and he didn't want to lose the money.

5. floor had about 300 people at the time he declined to perform.

Doesn't sound like we're talking about the same thing.

+1 on what hardkornate said too.

If this is confirmed and you know this is a fact then it would be interesting to know the name of the artist.

cash or no cash , doesnt matter. and playing for empty room ? travel across the town , jus so that 1 guy listens to him , better that 1 guy buys a crate of beer and go str8 to the artists studio.

im sure they will have a good time drinking the beer .

But wat OXYA is saying is pretty fucked up. 300 ppl are like a good crowd anywhere on earth.

Yeah, unless you already formally agreed to play. If the artist is not willing to play unless there is a big crowd he/she should establish this beforehand with the organizers.
