because people put so much music into this category when so much of it is neither dark nor twisted.
It's not about trying to divide the music into categories and labels, but I take this as rather a statement that lots of music is mistakenly labeled 'dark' when it is actually not
.
I have been thinking this a lot lately, lots of the sounds I dig are very psychedelic and twisted but when i play them people always seems to be smiling and having fun, not a speck of dark evnergy in the air. It is rather bright, actually. If I had to call this sound anything,(which a lot of SF artists fit under from my perspective), I would call it 'diseyland on acid' trance, something that seems twisted and psychedelic but very cheerful and fun in a semi-sick way. Or action trance, as Aaron put it, I like that one too 
Is this somewhere along the lines of what you were thinking, Ocelot (and some others)? |

I like the name. It goes well with Psychotic Micro and Azax Syndrome music.

Nowadays u get bombarded by names/styles...there was a time it was just called "Music"... |

Has anyone here heard of Neurotrance? I've seen that on a cd from Deja-Vu records (Suria's last one)

Indeed... sure, a few subgroups under the psytrance name is okay and everything, but there's no need to name everything that sounds just a little bit different from something else... It's all psytrance imo...

back in the day there were no labels or subgenres
full-on was an adjective for anything that was full-on or in your face
then the groovy mafia (gms astrix spun etc...)
coopted this term- mushroom magazine ran an article calling this 'new sound' "full-on" and evidently others agreed. the mono-style that this formula of sound has resulted in still claims the title "full-on"
now- to differentiate psychedelic trance from pop-trance-full-on whatever you want to call it we have to make up new names.
i'm not down with "dark" or "evil" etc as they are untrue and are a bad face to put forward to the world. maybe if someone is 12 years old and rebelling against their parents they will like these words-
me- i;m 30 and I like to be pro-active instead of reactive...
i like strong trance with a bit of OOMPH but i don't think this music is evil or dark and i'm sick and fucking tired of it being called dark or evil
its coloring my whole goddamned existence...
anyway- curses on the liars who called groovy trance full on and stole the original adjective of strong psychedelic trance...
