Hi Guys,
I posted a rough diagram of what the new room im staying in consists of, since im new to room acoustics i would like some help, was thinking to go gik acoustics, but what exactly?, get one of their room packages?. Also if you can suggest another brand i wouldnt mind, heard gik are good but expensive to have them shipped where i live, so if you know about anything else except DIY stuff since i dont have time let me know, cheers guys

+1 on constructing acoustic panels from scratch instead of buying into the foam panel story. I am actually just about to put together some panels for my new studio and could snap some pics as a sort of step by step if you´d like. By my calculations it will end up costing me a total of 300 Eur to cover my room. Bear in mind i am NOT a carpenter and i use some of the cheapest wood i can, but even so the result is surprisingly nice looking Stay tuned
Oh and about the time used......it takes 1 hour to put together 4 60X100cm panels, not exactly a lot (and still keeping in mind i click a mouse for a living, so powertools are a bit of a novelty for me) Mastering available here:

with regards to a diy solution let me first list what is needed.....The absorbant is in this case a form of high density rockwool insulation. Here in Denmark it´s sold under the name Rockwool terrain batts. They are relatively cheap and has densities that approach materials many times their price. The downside is that they are not coated and need to be covered. For cover you can choose any fine woven cloth in any color that suits you (i use unbleached cheesecloth in case you like an off-white look) Last but not least you would need some wood to frame it all up. The boards i am using are 2cmX10cm (and enough length to make the needed frames of). Any home improvement store should have cheap pine wood boards available in those measurements, so ask around. Getting a hold of terrainbatts can be a pain since they are not much in use, but at least here they are available for ordering even though it´s not a regular stock item. If you can find decent wood and the rockwool batts where you live then we can move on to the construction bit (with pics naturally) check this link for an idea of what type of batts would be good: http://guide.rockwool.co.uk/products/building-insulation/rigid-semi-rigid-and-flexible-slabs.aspx the more kg´s pr cubic meter the better. Obviously if it´s too much trouble to find those materials because they are not available then a more ready made solution is a good idea
