Thanks for the positive comments guys.
It's good to know the music is being enjoyed.
There is much more to come and have spent the last two days converting/tagging new material for the stream

The Helios track you mentioned Shakta is from his lesser known vocal album 'Ayres'.

Ok this weeks post is...

Stars Of The Lid - Carte-De Visite

Released to coincide with the band's tour, 'Carte-De-Visite' is a compilation of rarities, out-takes and unreleased tracks from the unsurpassable Stars of the Lid. Easily one of the best-loved bands in their field, Stars of the Lid have been busying themselves with regular releases for many years now, but until 2007 live shows were an unusual occurrence. Thankfully the band vanquished their demons and embarked on an epic trek across Europe and the USA, taking with them this selection of tracks to offer to the lucky patrons.

Weekly Update For Interesting Alternatives...

Hildur GudnadOttir - Without Sinking

Hildur Gudnadottir is a gifted cellist with an impressive history of collaborations that includes work with Pan Sonic, Throbbing Gristle, Johann Johannsson, Skúli Sverrisson and Ben Frost among many others, as well as being a member of Iceland's notable Kitchen Motors collective. She first came to our attention on Pan Sonic's epic 'Katodivaihe' album from a couple of years back, her intense, blackened cello adding another dimension to Vainio and Väisänen's icy tundras. "Without Sinking" (her second solo album and first for the Touch label) is, however, by far the most cohesive and engrossing release of her career to date. It's not often that sales notes offer much by way of an insight into the real thought process or inspiration behind an album, but Gudnadottir's description of many hours spent on flights around the world looking at clouds really does encapsulate the atmosphere and semi-opaque wonder of these recordings. "I wanted to have open space for single notes and let them breath, like single clouds in a clear sky. As a contrast I also wanted create denser and heavier compositions which were more thundercloud like. I like the way clouds form, how many tiny droplets can form such dense forms and then slowly evaporate into thin string-like forms." The sound Gudnadottir's cello makes paints these mysterious landscapes with an almost mystical purity, opening track "Elevation", for example, manages to outline an increasingly intense, almost mournful picture with seemingly simple layering techniques and barely perceptible processes submerged by the pregnant sound of Gudnadottir's hugely evocative instrument. But the album also includes contributions from a number of guests - most notably Johann Johannsson, Skúli Sverrisson and even Hildur's father Guðni Franzson, with tracks like "Aether" introducing Harp and wind instruments with a gentle economy that's so fragile and simple it's just nothing short of heart-stopping. The album closes with the dense "Unveiled", an ominous drone undulation steered by those cautious, towering strings and barely perceptible found sounds. It's the space between the notes, the restraint and expectation, that packs the biggest emotional punch on this incredibly moving recording, never allowing those 'cinematic' qualities to get in the way of the genuine dread and catharsis resting at the core of this utterly magnificent album. - Boomkat Review

Has to be one of the most beautiful live recordings I have ever heard and for £3.99 is wellllllll worth a purchase!

DEAF CENTER - Levende

Deaf Center Live EP - Recorded in Augsberg, Germany November 2006 Deaf Center have always been a very private proposition - with their graceful juxtaposition of velveteen compositions and monochrome arrangements fusing to form a noir soundtrack to every day life. Yet for all its intimacy, Deaf Center's music was always looking towards the bigger picture; resulting in a sound that can engage on the most minute of levels whilst delighting in the epic wide-screen vista broiling away behind. To this end it was almost a done deal that any excursions into the live arena would bear considerable fruit - a notion which is brought to a grand conclusion on 'Levende', a Boomkat exclusive recording of their recent show in Ausberg Germany. An annual event which boasts the cream of the leftfield, the Lab30 Festival was treated to a classic performance when Deaf Center took to the stage - captured here in all its glory as Erik Skodvin and Otto Totland weave an intoxicating blend of mealy atmospherics, cold-water soundscapes and intricately plotted instrumentation. Joined by Kristin Evensen Giæver on vocals, 'Levende' proves just how involved a live performance can be; wherein glacial peaks of sound are matched by warm synth embers to merge laptop maneuvers and live performance into a seamless whole. Opening with 'Lobby', 'Levende' (meaning "alive") the Deaf Center duo layer creased elements atop one another as they glide into an extended version of 'Path To Lucy' which has "epic" seared right to its core. From here, 'Weir' brings the focus back down to earth with classy grace, a brand new track fills in any 'Twin Peaks' gaps that were missing on the Deaf Center evolutionary path, whilst the closing epitaph of 'Final Sleep' is a fittingly elegant way to see out an astonishing live show.

DEAF CENTER - Levende

Great pick Dan

I purchased this performance a while back now and is still without a shadow of doubt one of the most special pieces of music in my collection.
The version of 'Path To Lucy' live, with the added female vocals manages to send shivers down my spine every time 10/10

Ok time for an update on Fluid Radio as I don't manage to get on here much these days...

The second 'Acoustic' channel was ditched some time ago now reverting back to one main broadcast on the station.

The main broadcast has changed significantly over the last few months and now leans more towards the experimental side of ambient, abstract and modern classical/acoustic.

I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea and I recieved a bombardment of emails in the first few weeks complaining that there is no longer enough psychill (whatever that is) on the station.

Apologies for those that miss the old style of music that was played. We just felt that it was time to take the station in a slightly alternative direction and hope that we still manage to provide you with interesting new artists and releases.

I will use the post from time to time to add links to some of the music being played on the station that we feel is worthy of some promotion.

Feel free to contact me with any suggestions.

For now here is a few current favs on the playlist worth checking.

Peace,

Dan

@ Fluid Radio: I really appreciate this change to the more experimental side. I listen to your station a lot and started really liking this sound. So many beautiful music, which I did not know before. This makes my personal world of music much richer. Thank you for that.

P.S.: Maybe Steve Reich would be an interesting artist for your playlist as well. Is classical minimal music. Sometimes sounds quiet "electronic".

Amazing sounds! Been listening to this radio the whole day. This more experimental and electro-acoustic stuff is much better than regular psy ambient for my ear.
