Well I have had this thing preordered since last November, and it seems it is finally going to ship (probably within the next two weeks)....
Sam Ash music in the US says it will ship within 3-7days, Audiomensch in GER says 2-5 days - Access have not made an official statement but it is sure looking promising.
For those who have preordered or looking for more info on this beast, here is a list of relevant links:
Access website:
www.access-music.de
Virus TI Forums:
www.virusti.com
VirusForum:
www.sunesha.nu/virusforum
Access Mailing list @ ampfea.org:

As you can prob guess im going insane waiting for this release! Heres hoping it arrives this month....
cheers

my friend saw one at a Music Tech Expo and it was buggy as hell, the UI crashed a lot and had to be reset a lot. Here's hoping they fixed all the bugs for the release.

thats not-so-good news.
I am really worried about the stability of the TI when it eventually ships - i get the feeling that access has bitten off much more than they can chew with this one.
i preordered the day after access announced (nov 10 '04) so as you can imagine i have a pretty severe case of itchy tweaking fingers....
cheers

the reason why it is shipping late is due to the fact, that they were finishing testing the beta software...and making all the fixes.....i was in contact with the one guy from Access and he said they wouldnt ship anything that wasnt up to standard and that would have bugs or be unstable....hence the delay...however the hardware engine is fully functional and complete....and if you have heard the sounds on the Access website,it certainly sounds insane!!!
the good news is that due to the delay, they have done some upgrades to the wavetables and also made the manual better and in depth apparently as well as some other possible tiny upgrades....
so if i was all of you i wouldnt worry about the bugs and shit, Access pride themselves on delivering quality products.
i ordered my Polar awhile back....cant wait as welll.....

darkPsy....the TI's being sold at stores are PRE-ORDERS....
apparently access have already sold 20 million euro's worth of virus TI pre-orders...the reason why i think that music stores were and are advertising is that Access were planning to ship in march but called bak due to the fact the sotware wasnt finished being beta tested in time.....i think another month and they should be shipped.....cant wait... |

Well, I don't know too much about the engine, but even if it's the exact same as the Indigo or whatever that's fine with me, I'm interested in it becuase it eliminates audio and midi cables.
I hate... fucking loathe with a passion, that is, recording synths.
Audio loss from shoddy cables, channels going bad on the mixer, dirty connections, and more than anything, the lack of instant gratification. When I seqence something, I want it right there and ready to go.
I've got a Nord Modular and a JP-8000 that sit gathering dust in my studio. They both produce a quality of sound that can't be matched by soft synths, but it doesn't matter, I just can't be bothered. If I have to futz with MIDI channels, audio cables, and moreover the whole process of deciding to record something, I can't be bothered and just dive into a VST.
If they do this right, the Virus TI will have everything that's cool about a VST and everything that's desired from hardware. Of course, that's a big and expensive "if".
Obviously, I'm one of the 'new generation' of people that got started mostly on inegrated soft synths. Old schoolers that grew up with the "Banks of humming machinery" studio don't have the irritation towards the nuts and bolts of hardware like I do. http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

sOft.....do yourself a favour...
go to the Access Site and listen to the sound Previews there...and then tell me if it is going to live up to the hype...
then maybe read the specs...this thing is gona own...
its a whole new DSP( in fact it has 2 DSP's) which incorporates the old virus as well as all the new shit they have added...i think this puppy is gona become a legend in its own rite.... |
