So, I recently got into trance music and I love it. I have a special liking for bass-heavy stuff like the newer Bassnectar (especially the album they just released). However, I'm not too picky and love pretty much all of it. I have Ableton and a computer, but no hardware. I'm really interesting in making this music but I'm really not sure where to begin. Can anyone give me some pointers or link me to a guide for the absolute beginner? Thanks for reading, I appreciate it.

making a full-on bass

you might want to watch this as well.

this might not be the specific genre or style you're looking for but it'll give you an idea on how to work things out in ableton
